So, in these obviously testing & inpatient times, I found myself upstairs, alone & listening to the radio, anyway my wife informed me she had to go out to get something for her mother (not really relevant) & so I had almost 20minutes of peace until it was interrupted by the front door bell. So I trudge downstairs to answer it, nodding briefly at my daughter who was sat motionless on the sofa, & it was my wife, I may have mentioned that she could of taken a key with her (given that I have not rung the doorbell in over 20 years) Only to be told that I’m lazy, so I would just like to know, on a scale of 1-10 just how lazy I am?
Cheers.
2 - she should be grateful, you let her back in. I'm sure plenty of people would leave their partner outside for a while after 4 long, tedious weeks cooped up together.
Sorry dear, I was in the bath with headphones in...

Thank you for the heads up, I’m now off to read all your past contributions to this forum to learn how it should be done.
Cheers.
I’m back, read every thread you started, people in glass houses & all that 🤣
Ive ridden with you and I would say you are averagely lazy 🙂
If she went out to the shop with the means to pay for something, then count yourself lucky. 😀
I bet her phone would have been on silent while she was out though.

on I know I’m lazy, I just didn’t think it was worth the argument, I couldn’t be arsed 😉
The door is locked when someone is in?
DD, don’t get me started on the reasons she never answers the phone but if I don’t 1 in 100 times then it was an emergency & I'm never there for her 🤣🤣🤣

I initially thought so as well. But after nearly 4wks of lockdown we can cut the OP some slack.
And on the evidence above you aren't lazy, I'd be irritated as well. WTF not take a key with you 🙄🙄

You mean your front door is always open unless you lock it? What happens if you’re upstairs in the bath with your headphones on? 😉
Edit to say my door can’t be opened from the outside without a key, it’s not like I lock it after she has left the house 😆
The door is locked when someone is in?
Good point, mines unlocked at the moment, it gets locked before I go to bed.

Don’t go down that road! Has started a couple of arguments in our house before. Mrs F seems to live in some sort of futuristic wasteland where marauding gangs enter your house on a whim and steal everything whilst possibly murdering you. I, on the other hand, live in Macclesfield.
Before marriage and when living alone I’d nip out and forget to lock the door and never locked it when I was home. Never got burgled or murdered.

So your daughter was closer to the door....well, why didn't she answer the door?
A philosophical question:
If a man makes a decision and his wife isn’t there to witness it, is he still wrong?
🤔
^ Awesome Binners. You have the honor of turning off the Internet tonight, it's finished for the day.
So.. where had she been?
20 minutes is just enough time to..?

I think that was implied.

Well I could of done it at least 10 times in that time, so given she was on foot the culprit must live close by, oh & have stock of the item she went out to get, hold on, it was a clever ploy right?
Tell how lucky she is, most people are leaving incoming things Quarantined in the porch for 24hrs.
Is she fit?
The door is locked when someone is in?
My first thought too.
0she had to ring because sje had 4 bags of shopping in her hands
A large donner kebab and chips and special burger sauce
Plus a 9 pint tin of adnams ghost ship
Oh, she didnt.... Then she is called Louise amd i claim my £5
Have you tried turning her off and on again?

He referred to the lady in question as wife, so I’d guess such things ended years ago.

Yes, if you like women in their 50’s who’ve knocked out a couple of sprogs & have largely forgotten about exercise for the last couple of decades 😁*
* I sincerely hope she doesn’t read this 😱

Dead man walking....
I hope she does. That’s how bored I am.
Great minds...

It's a philosophical question??? Nah, you're kidding me.
20 minutes is just enough time to.
I was thinking along the same lines.
Wait 15 minutes then have a danger****.
😉
😂
I may have mentioned that she could of taken a key with her
She could HAVE taken a key with her. Then we wouldn't have had this thread.
If his Mrs reads this it’ll be 2unfit2live
Because that link made me laugh out loud, I just had to explain why to the family, thanks Flashy 😂
My work here is done!
Be good to her.
Happy wife, happy life
I am somewhat relieved I have three daughters who have never shown the remotest understanding that they should answer the door. One morning after coming off nights I went to bed, and about 10am someone attempted to deliver a parcel, middle daughter rang me from the front room incase I hadn't heard them knock 😳
I blame the parents.
Always have the front door locked - and so do most people I know... in fact, I can’t think of anyone who does. Grew up with the same habit in the 70’s - 90’s.
Before marriage and when living alone I’d nip out and forget to lock the door and never locked it when I was home. Never got burgled or murdered.
In a previous house we did get a “sneak in theft”. We still leave the door unlocked most of the time when in the house. If the door automatically locked behind me I’d have to have a hidden spare key (to avoid accidental lockout) which would negate most of the advantage.

Yup. 10 years we've been living here and she still insists on locking the door. She demanded I lock it after me the other day when I went out to walk the child because she was in the kitchen. And what? It's literally going to be the thickest burglar going that starts trying doors right now and all they are going to snatch is a bingo bus stuffed full of crap or a Mondeo that sounds like it's about to fall apart. Knock yourself out, you're doing me a favour.

Given the radio silence, I can only assume the OP has since perished at the hands of his wife...?

I'm still here, I just checked & I still have all my tackle so I don't think she has seen this yet, I'm keeping my fingers crossed she never does 😉
Interesting re locking the door though.
If we leave the kids at home (13 & 16) then we expect them to lock the door. If one of us is at home, then we leave it unlocked. If we go out we take a key though.
Neighbours had a sneak break in a few years back - handbag visible in hallway iirc. And around the same time a woman in the village got tied up when two blokes broke in and stole her s****y new car. The risks are small but exist.

Yeah, some of those Tinder dates can go spectacularly wrong quickly.
Well if she's a menopausal mothersitter, there's absolutely no chance of getting any sense at any time. Ask me how I know, go on....
At least there's a chance you'll still get your shirts ironed and the odd meal (unless she's still stuck on the doorstep...). 🙃

She should have kept her fancy car outside 😉
