Got my letter from DWP to say I could apply for my state pension from August 22 this year (happy birthday to me).
Just worked out that if I reduce my days to 2 a week instead of the current 3, I’ll still be £530 a month better off!
Result. After 48 years of contributions.

Watch me drop dead before August cos it’s just my bastard luck.

Congratulations, hopefully you can enjoy it for many years to come.

14 years till I can claim mine, which will be after 49 years of contributing. I fully expect to keel over dead two days before.

I'm 51. It was always my intention to retire once I'd paid the mortgage off. So only 127 years to go.

Was there not a website that showed how many more contributions you had to make to hit whatever level it was to qualify for your pension? I'm sure I was about 16 years worth of payments left but still had 24 years to go before I could actually claim it...and I'd still be paying those extra 8 years.

Where can we do this? I'll have to do 50 years.

Yayy there Essel! Me too, as of September 1st 2022 .Three day week plus activating my pension means more money for less work. After four decades of contributing to the scheme it finally seems worth it.

If only I had a hip that would let me properly enjoy things 😔

£530 a month better off!

I foresee a new frame/bike in your future. And being of pension age an Ebike perhaps.

I have 2 years of contributions for the state pension, but at least 20 years before I can claim it (if the threshold isn't moved, which it almost certainly will).😳

I sincerely hope not!

Enjoy the reduced days working and the extra £££ when the time comes - enjoy 🙂

Since I got a carbon gravel bike I’m getting fitter & faster, so not ready for a leccy bike just yet. Although the Trek Rail 7 I demo’d last year was tempting… 🤔

Forgot to claim my pension for three years. When I did get round to it I got on years lump sum and the rest made uo by an increase weekly amount.
Makes a dufferance having it come in every month 4 weeks. One more part time job and I can retire...
