I THINK it was in the kit but can't be sure. I worked it out on paper by working backwards from the power draw of my electrical items that run off the leisure battery. In my case 2 lights, 1 charger socket, 1 heater and a 12v pressure washer.

@sazter that's really nice work!

Do your insurer have some kind of weird classification for it, or is insuring it just like any other camper?

nach, as it is all removable, nothing bolted in place it is just standard van insurance. 🙂

Hiya Sazter, more questions..
Whats the heater you've put in? I'm assuming its leccy so how long can you run it on your battery? Oh and what size battery did you get? Ta 🙂

The heater is one like this ebay heater

The battery is much bigger than I needed but I wanted to be future proof! Its a 12V 110AH Deep Cycle Battery Numax from starter batteries ebay shop

I don't know why... the album is public and all are from my facebook, so if one shows, why not the rest, anyone?!

Thanks for the links Sazter, liking that little leccy heater.
I'm not sure if this true of all batteries and I don't want to worry you but aren't they supposed to be vented externally because of the gases they give off?

twang, this is only true of certain batteries, usually the kind used as starter batteries. I can't remember off the top of my head all the types but this is safe its a gel, not acid battery, but thanks for the heads up!

Ah I see, thats good enough for me. 🙂
Right, off to ebay then - I'll no doubt be back in a bit with more stupid questions...

Twang, as long as it is a sealed battery you are fine apparently. Mine was a learning curve, a sharp one! Well worth it, most of my riding buddies are jealous! It's a nice feeling having something like that you made yourself, makes me feel a bit proud.

This weekend I am making a bed from pallets, last weekend was spent stripping them all down to planks, this weekend the fun begins. I can almost fully bend my purple finger, bashed it a few too many times whilst crow-barring out nails!!

And I am a laydee, so no comments about my purple finger please! 😉

Sazter, I'm not sure if it's the same idea but I'm making a bench with the top made of slats in a row that slide out and make a small double bed. Hope that makes sense without a picture. I can send you a link later if you want. It won't be much more work but gives a lot more room.

thanks mac and wwaswas, I already have a bed of similar design in my van, though mine folds flat against the wall when not in use so I can use the whole van. This project is a big bed for my flat. 🙂

A bit like this with some personalisation tweaks. 🙂

wwaswas - that's quality. No plans to buy a camper any time soon, but I will remember that idea!

Folded away:

Don't have a photo of it in double mode, will try and remember to take one on my next trip!

Also, since these photos I have made the legs fatter and added two in the middle!

Ace, love these. Have had my brain fried for the last few days trying ti plan it all out before i start, especially the electrics which i have absolutely no real idea about. All is now good though. I will say that i have borrowed pretty much all your ideas Satzer. I owe you big time for all the photos and ideas.

Waswas yep that is the idea, i cant find the link but i found a van build thread on T4forum that had one of these beds / bench and i love the idea. I was over visiting a mate today who has a Vivaro decked out as well and he put me onto someone who makes bench foam and coverings to order. He had some done in a waterproof fabric and they are ace, This conversion is growing arms and legs 🙂

Great conversion. I love threads that prove campers don't need to be stupid prices.

This is the bed about halfway down. I dont plan to make mine as solid at the front as i want to maximise every bit of storage space but for me this is the current plan 🙂

@mac that's basically a more structured, non-folding version of mine. 🙂

Yea, I like the simplicity of your bed tbh. With the room you have it's the best option. I've just spent the day stripping mine out and buying the insulation. All systems are go. Nae work due to storms.

mac, may as well work on your van now and enjoy it when the weather is nicer! 🙂

My bed has 6 legs attached with hinges so they fold flat when the bed is stowed. The side against the wall is screwed to a batten on the other side of the ply.

I look forward to seeing your updates!
