Awesome. Love a bit of urbex myself.
a rangy man in his thirties
What does that mean? Is it Scottish?
I think it's a bit like gamey.
its a typo. should have been 'mangy man in his undies'
The Scotsman crashes my browser every time I try to open the link 🙁
Ben - That's pretty impressive stuff.
Was it you that had a website with a load of photos on it?
Do you never carry a gas meter with you? Sounds like you are going in some fairly high risk spaces?
I don't normally - that's mostly coal mines - but I'm always very wary of bad air underground.
My website's www.transientplaces.co.uk - some pictures on there 😉
Ha. I saw this earlier and thought. Oh, wonder if that fella from the parish knows this fella.
Why did they use a still from a dodgy 1980's New Wave video? 🙂
Reading it now, it's pretty clear I didn't do too much 'reading' earlier
Why did they use a still from a dodgy 1980's New Wave video?
Took ages to get the steam right 🙂
Nice one! Be good if that article had some more of your pictures in it though.
It actually doesn't have any of my pictures in it!
Are you on DerelictPlaces.co.uk?
Brilliant! There were some explorers in the States who always went in evening dress...
Are you on DerelictPlaces.co.uk?
Not much - occasionally, but on 28DL much more.
Good one, kind of like the thumbing your nose at the authorities bit 🙂
Excellent article, Ben, I've been fascinated by the whole UrbEx thing for some time, since in read about the girl who went into the Chernoble exclusion area on a motorbike and took photos.
I've bookmarked Transient Places, and 'Liked' it on Fb too, to keep up with what's going on.
Good luck with your explorations, and stay safe!
All the Indiana Jones shit, and he makes bikes and has a degree in astrology..!!
Very suave 8)

Astronomy, I think. Don't think you can do degrees in mystic meg BS..
Oh.. well in that case he's he's not very suave at all, he's just a very naughty boy..
Good luck with your explorations, and stay safe!
Thanks 😉
Suave?!
why don't you have a pseudonym like urBen? or Ken Booper? or Nosey Bassa?
and shouldn't you wear a disguise, or a cape?
I do - in real life I'm a 5'3" black woman.

Just to ensure STW standards don't slip...racist!
Pictures exist of Ben Cooper starkers atop a turbine in Inverkip Power Station.
Link?
That bit was totally inaccurate, I wasn't naked.
I had my hat on.

Brilliant stuff Ben, just wasted a good hour looking at your website, not quite the same league, but spent the weekend exploring my wife's uncles farm in Norfolk, he is going to rent out some of the land and showed me all these old Nissen Huts, turns out they were part of a Canadian air base during WW11, the huts haven't been touched since the war, still has a bar, dart board, old arm chairs and empty beer bottles in the mess, dirty graffiti in the toilets etc.
I think that is what I like about your photos, many of them capture a moment in time, and the degradation is saddening as they slowly turn to ruin.
Great article, you can tell the writer found his subject properly interesting.
You came across really well in that Ben, nice one!

Agreed.
Don't know how he managed it, he's really rude in Real Life.
