Got an email saying roseco has sent me a message. Go to look at it and it says I'm blocked, but obviously I'm not because I can post here.
What gives?
Russian hooker entrapment scam
I think it was a scammer so they've been blocked and messages deleted
And there was me thinking I was special.
They have only joined stw in the last few days.
I don't know what I'm more impressed with. 1 that I got an email to tell me I had a message or 2 that stw towers were so quick to spot spam and were able to delete everyone's messages.
Well done! 👍

This was actually fixed weeks ago but they forgot to actually switch it on...!

Credit where it's due, we had an earlier tip-off.

I didn't deal with it in the end, I went for a schlep up Pendle Hill instead.

I'm more impressed that 3 for every legitimate new user registration there's over 15 which get automatically blocked by the site before the moderators ever see them.
It's annoying that this happens, but something slipping past both the automatic systems and us is relatively very rare indeed.
I had that too! I wondered what it was about
I had one as well, thought I was on to a winner, there! Is disappoint 🙁
I got that message, Rosco P Coltrain or something with a link to probably dodgy stuff. I felt popular for a few seconds

The forum on which I'm a Moderator doesn't allow new users to send messages. That seems a reasonable precaution; would it work here?
We're currently having that discussion as to how best to proceed. Drac has suggested blocking PM functionality until after a user has made their first forum post, which I think is genius.
I can see a use case for someone signing up in order to PM someone, classifieds response say. But sending 100+ not so much.
