I currently have 5 + a spotting scope. I must be a binocuholic or something.
All comments welcome. (apart from the expected 'perv!' ones)
Anyone got more, & what?
You could put one into each of my backpacks. Why anyone needs 6 backpacks I have no idea.
I have a couple of pairs of avimo 7x42’s - the ex army ones - fixed focus but fab quality. Also got some much older Ross no5 - but they are a bit grotty.
I only have 4, but I have around 20 rucksacks...
4 quality pairs, 3 throwaways and a spotting scope here.
As an aside, just make sure you pronounce it correctly!
Bye. Knock. You. Lars.
I had a pair as a kid I loved. Then I realised how good quality ones were . Got a pair of Swarovski habicht and a pair of Zeiss jenoptens . Both pretty cheap and cooo things . Very close to buying a pair of canon is ones that a friend recommended , but they were a different price point ..
You could use them to look at my grape scissors.
Why I have so many pairs is mystery that can only be explained by long inheritance chains!
bet you didn't see that coming
He did. From a long way away.
2 pairs of Steiners.
1 pair of ex-USSR military.
1 spotting scope.
And a pair of 1943 Barr and Stroud 7 x 41 like these

I'm after a pair for around about £100. I will use them to watch people and dogs working on hillsides (niche but that is just how it is). I'm looking for mid size, I don't need compact but I would rather not too bulky or heavy. Need them to be relatively rugged as I will drop them. Any ideas?

The Canon IS ones are available at several price "points". The thousand quid ones were well out of my range of interest but I bought some of the £300 quid price point ones and I love them. They are pretty good bins without the IS but the IS is a great boon for me. I've often wondered how they would compare to similar money spent on old school bins. The downside is that they aren't waterproof and are probably more fragile than normal bins. Plus you don't get objective eyecaps or eyecap retainers or even a decent case. I also notice that although Chris Packham endorses Canon bins he is always seen on telly with other more traditional brands.

Youv'e been watching 'Snatch' haven't you? (through your Bye knock you lars ya perv!) 😉
You can easily pick those Avimos up for £100 on eBay now - prob at the upper end of your range size wise but very rugged for obvious reasons...
@frank I can recommend my Opticron Discovery 8x32's - you can get them for £150ish, they tick the lightweight/waterproof/robust boxes and optically very decent for that price. My GF spends most of her working life looking through much more expensive glass (shes an upland ecologist!) and she's perfectly happy using them when we're on holiday or whatever.

As recomended by Ray Mears no less................

Are you a scion of an ancient dynasty of colo-rectal surgeons?
I'd just like to make it clear I'm not Ray Mears, and neither is my girlfriend.
(I do know one of his cameramen though.)
I’m not a real bear and I very rarely grill anything.

I know Mrs Mears. Lovely lass called Ruth who's from the same village as me in Co Durham.
