+1 here
Bikes are shod with mud tires but the conditions are that bad here that it makes little to no difference. I'm going to wait until it dries up this winter.

Looking out of my work window it's lovely outside in Cardiff. Met office suggests that it will rain heavily at 5 just as I'm driving home. Typical really.

My bikes are spotless and in perfect working order. It's not often I get them all like that.

All this rain must be good for someone.

Normally the shady end of the garden under the trees has no grass.
This year its lush.
Any other ideas?

hmmm, all those 'dry weather only' biker that started to appear on the local trails around april/may time have not been seen since this rain started. I see that as a good thing 😉

Weather science boffins are getting more bookings on the One Show. That's an obscure field that doesn't usually get enough air time. Go, weather science boffins I say.

Plus, it's easy to lock my bike in the office's underground car park – the lightweights are back on the train! 🙂

Ride with the dogs every night in the local woods but luckily its a pine wood so has that nice soft absorbent ground covering making it fine to ride in, no muddy bike for me. P!ss wet commuting to and from work everyday mind.

No brown patches on the lawn at home this year......a combination of water logged ground which obviusly dilutes dog wee and training dogs (slowly) not to wee on lawn.

Yup, same sad state of affairs here - 2600 miles ridden this year, only 260 of them off road, and much of that was in races. Excuses include crap weather, spending more time running and road training for an end to end, moving house, can't be arsed driving to ride and other general faff inherent in MTBing etc. etc.

Anyone want to buy me a nice MTB holiday somewhere warm and sunny so I can get my mojo back? 😉

Oh dear, I don't fit in here on STW - I've only got mountain bikes and have been using them as nature intended quite a bit of late. I'll be off then to some road bike forum where they've all seen the light and have become fully fledged MTB'ers 🙄

Oddly, although it was pi$$ing down last night, I came home pretty dry as when it stops, it's still warm and pleasant!

I'm getting more bothered by the excessive overgrowth of brambles and stingers out on the trails!

Couldn't agree more - I was seriously looking at those gator things walkers use..... until I realised I'd look a ****. Well, more than normal.

Also have you noticed that the trees seem unable to cope with the weight of leaves - loads of low hanging branches. Hit those and it's worse than the rain as you get a whole bucket of cold water in one go, and right down the back of your neck.

This weather is sorting the wheat from the chaff, right 😆

3 sunny hours trundling around Leigh Woods/50 Acre Wood/Ashton Court this morning. Most of the muddy puddles from Sunday had disappeared. 😀

I have to also admit that despite several mud logged and sandy attempts, ive lost my MTFU mojo and am waiting for a dry spell before I head off-road again.

i haven't ridden my duster for over 6 months (well apart from shopping and the odd trip to trowbridge on k & a canal).i'm sick to death of my depression/laziness 😡 am planning on sorting it out though (hopefully).although all the rain really makes it hard to want to go out (being a lightweight that i am 😉
i plan on buying a small battery guitar amp (bear with me here 😉 and then filming some rubbish guitar covers whilst having ridden to some of my favorite off road routes (not too far obviously 😀
mountain biking emptiness anyone 😉

Big road rtides are now looking like a good option. Commuting Manchester Liverpool tomorrow. Manchester - Wirksworth on Saturday. The good thing is road bikes don't get owt like the same wear.

The Alps were however spanktastic last weekend. Manly cuddle to Ludo at Rideability in Morzine.

I must say it's more difficult to get out the door, but once you're out it's great...mostly, 24/12 was a slog.

Roll on the Indian summer 🙄

Oh dear, its been pretty nice on the west coast of Scotland.

Got a nice summer 'dicking about' ride yesterday, sliding round dry, pine-needley corners and scratching new lines out of the forest with my foot, its like being 12 again 😀

I went out for a nice 18 miles on the mountain bike on Sunday. Bike came back spotless. Mind you in the couple of last miles we came along this path on the right.

[IMG] [/IMG]

Water was halfway up my headtube and my mate's saddle was only three inches above water.

I live in Wiltshire, and the ground just turns to sticky clay. It doesn't dry unless you have hot weather for a day or two and usually has sharp flint buried in it. Really not worth the effort.
