Christ! Who doesn't drink and drive?

You always used to have the safer alternative of drug driving, but with the marked decrease in the quality of recreational drugs in the last 12 months, drunk driving is going to be the only sensible option available to the majority of people this festive season..

You'd be a fool not to

It's ok I've got a drink-driving permit from the police.

A number of the councillors who approved the measure are reportedly themselves pub owners - but Mr Healy-Rae denied that this had influenced the vote.

Tossbags!!

what a brilliant idea, wished they did that down at my folks.
people think that just because it's a rural location they can get away with it.

Same as where I used to live.

Seems pretty open to abuse really. Need money, park outside pub and report everyone getting into their car. If they turn out to be over the limit you get £200.

If the police want to tackle drink driving they could just do the same, breathalise everyone in pub/restaurant car park

Is that because 99.9999999999999999999999% of the time they'd be correct in that assumption? Now that the police have been replaced by speed cameras, I doubt that just applies to rural areas any more?

Anyway…. hasn't every single scheme like this(Crimestoppers etc) just ended up being used for personal score-settling, and not much else?

I expect then that you'd get done for wasting police time. Obviously to get your £200 you have to provide your name, etc don't you.

They do round here and do get away with it. In both ways, they don't get caught and there has never been a road death attributed to booze (in living memory).

Of course unlike towns and cities we don't have public transport worth a toss or taxi ranks dotted about so will always be the risk of someone driving over the limit.

Anyway… driving is like playing pool. The more you drink, the better at it you get.

How many parked their cars in ditches? There were a few where I grew up in darkest Essex / Suffolk. 🙂

There were also some that would have a few pints before driving the tractor home. 😯

There aren't really any ditches round here but I've seen a few drystone walls bashed - I think they'd just pinball down the road till they get home!

When I started drinking in NZ there were machines in pubs, for one whole dollar they would tell you your blood alcohol level. It was a competition I nearly always won, being 5 ft tall. The machines didn't last long.
