Seek immediate professsional help.

I had a simmilar incident once as a teenager, vision went a bit cloudly, blood in the pupil and the white bit...could have almost lost the eye. don't wait.

I can understand your fear with covid etc, but this would trump that risk.

Thinking outside the box, you might get a faster appraisal with an optician like spec savers, than waiting for an NHS reply, or waiting at A&E for days. Just walk in and say you have a problem and go from there.

Having visited A&E/minor injuries a few times through the pandemic between me and the daughter, it's been the best experience there I've had.

Don't risk your eyesight, go get checked.

So painkillers and still having to stay in bed?
Definitely a time to seek professional assistance.

MTFU would apply to when its mildly annoying for a couple of hours but not to the extent where you are having to change behaviour/pop pills to compensate.

I have had lots of eye issues over the last 5 years - after treatment they have cleared up.

Don't mess with them - they are difficult to replace - get down to the eye hospital

It’s an eye casualty job, ring your local
One first, they will triage and may give you a time to go in. They work Sundays but expect a long wait, take drinks snacks etc.
Where are you? Some opticians run a minor eye conditions (MECS) clinic. For pain like that it’s a red flag so straight to eye casualty.

As much as I wouldn't want to spend hours in A and E now or at anytime... I'd be putting down my mobile and getting a lift there right now op.

Good luck bud.👍

111 online, phoning takes forever. They'll redirect you to urgent care. Had to go last week with ankle and leg, turned out to be a sprain. Anyway, took two hours to be seen and x-ray.

I went to A&E with similar, they gave me some really nice eye cream that took the pain away super quick. It was lovely! Was in soooo much pain before then...

Update
Got through to 111 around 0730. Helpful guy recommended walk in at local hospital, not a and e, and not busy at that time.
True enough, triaged within 10 mins, seen by specialist eye doc within 1hr.
Verdit, scratched cornea and no other damage. Will be tender for a few days but shoild be fine within a week
Got some chlorophenol to stave off any chance of infection
Pain is way down from 6 or 7 to a 1, visionn ok but blurry.slept through night due to co codomol which probably helped.
Great work by nhs, once your in the system, couldn't fault it. A few swivel eyed loons who got queue jumped by parents bringing in kids, tutting, which is absolutely fine in my book
Thanked doc for work through pandemic and went shopping for biscuits

111 is massively inundated at minute, like all services. Well done on waiting and using a local hospital rather than take up a spot in A&E.

A good few years ago I was in A&E for stitches.  they had a ticket system so you knew where you were in the queue.  Just before it was my turn a woman came in with an arm with an extra bend in it.  Looked really nasty.  Well that was me waiting another hour! Fair enough.  Stuff is triaged on urgency

Good news. Eyesight is precious and worth looking after. Woke up with very sensitive eyes a few months back, very light sensitive, could not look at screens, focus on words in books etc. Eventually got referred (by hospital) to specsavers, who did a thorough check and diagnosed a case of severe ‘dry eye’. Odd as never had it before but a few days of drops, and wipes and it recovered. Eyes are still a bit weepy from time to time but generally ok. Bit of a wake up call!
