It's the big one tonight but I'm still torn over who to support.

Loved Holland ever since WC74 and I've got them in the sweep at work. On the other hand I've done a lot of travelling in Spain and speak the language a little so they're usuallly my no.2 team to support.

Who is everyone rooting for ?

I like to keep racism and politics out of sport, so I'll be rooting for Catholic Spain over the Dutch heretics.

The Spanish will have better victory parties so I'm going with them.

2 years ago when Spain won the Europeans there was the biggest street party you could ever imagine.

We´re all looking forward to an even bigger celebration tonight.

Spain 2 Holland 0 😆

For sure, I'll be supporting Holland.

They were unlucky to lose the 78 final; it's about time they got another go.

New Zealand! (& potentially Holland - if Spain won on pens could you argue Holland were unbeaten?

Correct it's New Zealand only if Spain win as you say.It happened in 1974 the answer then was Scotland

Who honestly cares. If Spain win tonight and score less than five goals, they'll be the lowest scoring side ever to win. Which about fits in what's probably the worst world cup in recent memory. For me, Germany should have won...they were the only ones who played to their full potential and were sometimes greater than the sum of their parts.

Spain for me 🙂

Mainly due to the high Barca contigent, it'll make up for defeat by Inter

I agree with darcy on this one, after ze Germans destroyed England and did the same to Argentina, they really should've played a lot better in the semi, it was bit of a disapointment to be honest.

Can see the final being a bit like the Mexico '86 one really.

Wonder if the Spaniards will let Roben cut inside on his left foot, hopefully not 😆

Isn't that more a question of poor opposition than a quality German side. If they're so good why aren't they in the final? Spain took the game to them and they couldn't respond.

¡A por ellos!

Spain prevented them playing - they never let them have the ball.

So Spain don't deserve to win because they have not scored many?
What bollox ,they obviously didn't let in many either so their defence must be world class. There is more to a football team than the front 2 or 3 you know!!

Are Spain the best side in the tournament? Yeah, probably (whether they win tonight or not).

Have they even for fifteen minutes of a game played the breathtaking football of which they're capable? No. Just bloody ticky tacky keepie the bally come and get it off us if you can-ie. Apart from occasional moments of skill from Villa, they've not inspired at all.

Those nasty, nasty Spaniards - that's just not fair really!

If the final were Saturday I'd like to see Spain win, but then I have to get up early tomorrow so Holland all the way!

Football??? At this rate I hope Holland get stuffed as they're trying a new tactic of kicking the opponents off the park!

If the Spaniard was injured he wouldn't be playing after the challenge. The karate kick was too weak to hurt him so no red card given.

The offences that warrant a red card are defined in FIFA’s Laws of the Game:

1, Being guilty of ‘serious foul play’ (for instance, a very dangerous tackle).
2, Violence.
3, Spitting at an opponent or other person.
4, Denying the other side an opportunity to score by handling the ball.
5, Denying the other side an opportunity to score by fouling a player.
6, Offensive or abusive language or gestures.

(How does Rooney stay on the pitch?)

So I imagine that a foot to the chest would fall somewhere between 6. saying nasty words and 1. "serious foul play", wouldn't it?

Funny how the Beeb's generally well respected pundits all agreed the Dutch could have been down to 9 men easily - guess we know nothing lol.

At least the English are having the last say by having a ref in the final who hasn't the bottle to send anyone off!!!!! He's ruining the game.

Hmmm...no surprise that it's been a truly shit game (so far).

Big fat yawn from me 🙁

Dutch fans should be really proud of taking us back to Italia 90 levels of foul play. Mind you, the Spanish are not shy with fruity challenges either.

'cause I hoped and prayed that for once, Soccer might end up being interesting, two (supposedly) great teams, (supposedly) quality players... and still it sucked... soccer players just can't help but fall over at the slightest touch, can't help but show disrespect to the referee... shit game, sorry 🙁

I think Spain did really well to beat Holland, the Netherlands and the Dutch!

One country against three hardly seems fair. 😉

Sounds like the party is in full swing:

I popped out to the centre of Madrid to watch the game and - what do you know - 250,000 other people had the same idea!

Ears still ringing, and feeling slightly tired now. Few hours to recover and then off to watch the trophy being paraded around town.

So psychle, you hate the game of football, but you watched the match last night and then came onto a forum to comment on how much you hate the game? Perhaps you could have found a better use of your time.
