It’s not really a gravel bike it’s a cross bike but any suggestions of where to ride for a couple of hours would be gratefully received.

I was going to say you could do part of the Colne Valley MTB challenge as it is all easily do able on a CX bike

https://www.cvmbc.co.uk/route/

But the route isnt on their website as obviously bits on private land.

Found this GPX. https://www.mapmyride.com/gb/linthwaite-eng/colne-valley-mtb-challenge-route-207377109. The nice bits are from mile 25 42ish so you could put something together out of that?

Not ridden there but done some running round Marsden, some nice double track up towards the Isle of Skye road which could make a nice 2 hour loop.

I was also going to suggest Marsden, up and back down the Wessenden Valley, past a series of reservoirs. Plus a bit of canal if you have the time.

Disclaimer. Put this together but never ridden any of it, but the bit up past Wessenden is lovely as @Esme suggests.

I’m local. Tuboflard route a good one and tweakable to fit time. I’ll highlight what else is rideable later and you can play dot to dot, but Wessenden Valley is a must do.

Now you are talking! Best fried chicken I’ve ever had, by miles.

NW or NE Hudds?

Are you riding from there, or driving out a little?

M62 side - something out towards Scammonden, under/over the motorway by the damn, around the edge of Pike Law, down Cockpit Lane (sketchy at the bottom at the minute), then nice BW farm track (Heys Lane) all the way to Ripponden. Drop down to climb up Bank Top on the road to Barkisland and then Norland Moor, down through North Dean Woods (various options down there from the double track BW through to mega death tech). Canal to Salterhebble junction and then onto West Vale, up onto the viaduct, climb up behind the Orange factory and then Hollins Hey Road (BW) all the way back up towards the M62.

DBW has got some good bits on there.

At the end of Heys/Cliff lane just as you get on tho the tarmac you can turn right into Foxstones Lane and follow that up, then left to Gosling Lane rather than dropping into Ripponden just to climb back out again. Norland Moor is extremely dry right now so is fast and easy going compared to normal

If you are up near J23, then Shaw Lane, Hall Lane, drop to Crimea Lane and over to Burnt Platts Lane would be mostly offroad (better going east rather than west though)
