I recently brought a USB adaptor from Amazon from a brand described as an Amazon brand. In the manufacture sealed packaging was a 10 dollar voucher for leaving a 5-star review. Being an average STW reader I left a 1-star review saying not to trust 5-star reviews for the above reason.
Amazingly Amazon won't post the review citing the rules about monetary inducement for reviews I was raising. I'm guessing that this has been flagged automatically by the system but there is no way my review could be read that way. After fruitlessly replying to emails from the system I was wondering if there was a way of taking this further. I have no hope of success but I'm feeling bloody minded about a company rigging their own system
It's just not worth bothering.
They make it deliberately convoluted but you can go through the online system and request a call from a customer support person. I have found them helpful in the past once you actually speak to a human.
linky? that is pretty bad behaviour really as it really messes things up. Although I do normally ignore the 5* reviews and actually read the text of the 1 and 2s as that normally gives the best clue as to what a product is like
Likewise, it's the detail of 1 and 2 stars i use. Do they look like a sane person has written them, us there a pattern and do they refer to the product rather than the delivery persons perfume, weather on the day it was bought and any other non related issue the poster has with the worked in general.
5 star reviews are only really helpful if posted after a few months of use.
Would love to see the voucher wording. Was it really for you leaving a 5* review or was it just to encourage leaving any review?
I had a similar purchase a few months back, I bought a usb-c cable and it had a voucher for a similar product free if I left a good review. It seemed weird as the cable was only a few £ so I don't get how they're making money if people take advantage of the freebie (I didn't)
Interesting as I find the 1* reviews are written by people who are too stupid to even know what they have bought!
Some of them are, but you skip those.
I always read the middle ground 2 3 and 4 star reviews, you often find those are the ones that will flag up quality issues or underwhelmed by the product.
I've also noticed some listings have reviews that relate to another product, I suspect sellers build up their 5 star rating and then edit the description to a completely different item. I've also seen random things in my purchase history and when you go back and look it turns out it was a different item you bought
Best bet is don’t use Amazon
It’s a business built on greed, tax evasion and eroding workers rights. What did you expect?
Was it an Amazon voucher? Take the money - order 50 more and then keep the vouchers but send all the items back…😎
How is the 1 star review going to help. Unless the adapter is rubbish. Is the adaptor rubbish
File under lifes too short. I've had these vouchers before but unless the product is really good or exceptionally crap I don't review anyway and wouldn't leave a 1* review because of the voucher if the product was actually good and vice versa.
Amazon dispute? I believe it is customary to set fire to their rain-forest...
+1 for towpathman, from someone too tight to subscribe

I bought the wrong size, sent back, 1 ⭐
