He needs to get a duplicate copy of his GCSE exam results for an application to the Police Service. We have hunted everywhere but not seen them since he produced them for college years ago...
The school were of little help, just listing a few possible exam boards it could be. School is in Kent if relevant.
He's put feelers out on FB asking people from back then for info but no go yet.
Gov website of little help, just suggesting to contact school or friends!
Needs the results asap, there are multiple Exam Boards and they seem to want a non refundable £50 each to look up his results. Even if the exam returns turn out not to have been run by them.
Help!
phone the college - they might have photocopied or scanned them?
Any old school notes kicking around? Hunt for any past papers/mock exams?
I went through the same with the Fire Service. Phoned the school, who did have record of which exam boards they'd used each year. Still gave me a list of 4 possibilities.
Fire Service then offered an alternative option to sit some basic exams online, so I did that instead of faffing/paying out to exam boards.
Probably worth another call to the school to see if you get another more helpful member of staff?
Does he know if any of the teachers who taught him are still there-if so could try and ask them? I was a teacher for nearly thirty years and I kept records, even if not held centrally they might be held at department level.
You may well find that there were more than one exam board used for the different subjects eg. Different departments used those that fitted their strengths better.
Ask the school.
Ask the college.
There's only, what, four or five now? It's not like the dozens when I was at school.
I worked at a sixth form college, when we recorded the exam results of incoming students we did see the certificates during the induction process and the results were transferred onto the database, but they were not copied and exam boards were not noted so I would think that the school is the best route if possible.

Play them at thier own game - data protection act: subject access request the bar-stewards! 😀

Hm, can you do an SAR to see if they have any records first?
Speaking as a teacher, it sounds as if the school is fobbing you off. I could access this information for my past students in 2013 without issue. The Exams Officer in our school could probably provide a duplicate without any problem (it’s all electronic and was in 2013 too).
The chances are your son took multiple exam boards over his spread of subjects. Why not ask all of the exam boards for a duplicate and see what you get? Exam boards (the first three are the most likely) to contact are:
AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC and CCEA.
You will probably need the examination centre number and, possibly, candidate number - the school can provide this.
I'm staggered that they don't have his info under 10 years after he left.
As mentioned above, see if a teacher of his is still there.
Seems a bit cheeky for the Exam boards to charge for having a look. I'd have thought putting in a Subject Access Request with OCR, Edexcel, AQA, etc. would turn up you what you need.

Cheers guys, my son (Not a member) is lurking.👍
