... or just one which doesn't sound dull and/or rigidly structured in the same way as the job spec?
My approach has always been to give a few detailed examples of my work which are most relevant to the skills/ experience they are looking for. Is there a more imaginative way, or am I over thinking the fact that they will be faced with 100s of people all saying that they have the same skills?
Put some genuine, honest enthusiasm in the letter? No need to sound too stilted and formal.
Assuming you called them already, asked about the advert, listened and then talked about your experience? Trying to get as much info as possible over and above what is written in the advert.. ? Which might give you an edge over the other 100s of people applying for the job as well as hopefully being memorable from your conversation.. ?
Then writing the letter based on that conversation..
