I think this is my ideal job. I've got loads of great ideas, I want to plan them all out, do the research, publish it and have people listen to me.

How do I do it? Anyone else want to join in?

If you're independently wealthy and have preconceived ideas that you want to perform "studies" to "prove" - so you can use that to bend politics to your will, then victory 🙂

"Think tank" is a bit of a misleading term, they're more like propaganda factories, or a body to keep useful "experts" on retainer. You'll need a Sugar Daddy and your soul surgically removed...

How do I do it? - Find someone to fund it

Anyone else want to join in? - Sure, how much funding have you got and, if it is enough, what do you want my opinions to be?

Edit : The direct link doesn't appear to be working but if you copy and paste it into the search box it seems to.

Eaton works, but I'm not a fan of Norwich at the best of times.

@molgrips. Happy to be employee/consultant #2 if you want to expand your ideas to include security, "security" and biotechnology. I did not go to Oxford, but I used to live very near Cambridge if that helps my application.

I had one of those once. A single skin 1300ltr oil tank. After much headscratching I cut it in half longitudinally and made 2 rabbit hutches for the grandkids' rabbit compound. They love them!

I went to Oxford (many times as a child)

My lad is at Cambridge and his housemate was on Rishis leadership campaign team if you need a (tenuous) link to those in power.

alternative thick tank

I think a few of the existing organisations would already qualify.

Sounds like you’ve just started one. Now all you have to do is plan out all those good ideas, research and publish them, and hope someone listens to you.

First you need some dark money and a hidden agenda, so unless you know some Russians, have links to dodgy regimes, organised crime or the oil, mining or arms industry, then chances are you’re screwed.

Do these Think Tanks fire Mind Bullets? If so, when this all becomes a film can the firing bit be done to a Tenacious D song???

Also sounds like a YT channel...

Assuming you aren't up for some dodgy funding on ideas to **** people over so not qualifying from money from Russian or Tobacco/oil etc. then the YT might actually get more people listening.
Check this ... amongst other things it got him invited to speak at the labour party conference.

Gary’s a funny one, I’ve watched a few of his things but I do think he has a few points and is worth a listen, originally not sure about the delivery but he’s growing on me.

I thought his crypto stuff was an interesting take if he’s making people more aware/wary of things that’s not a bad thing.

Making people have a think is a good trait.

Agreed but he says it better than I can.

One of the major things that he gets edited out from certain channels is his perspective on wealth and what that really means.

I've said for a while the current system works by setting the relatively poor against the poorer whilst those with wealth in billions just let the money pour their way.

My sister in law once ran for election as a LibDem councillor so I’m obviously well connected. I know a lot about Nuclear Decommissioning if your think tank covers that. Avail 20hrs a month for £10k/mth. Cash in hand.

That generosity suggests you are looking to work in a world war 1 style tank rather than the modern day equivalents - you mean you could be available for comment at some point during the year with £50k for that comment...

I met someone who runs a left leaning one. He spent most of the time pitching ideas and fund raising to potential donors and hiring relatively recent graduates to carry out the research and publish policies, mainly because funding was short and that’s all they could afford.

All the money is obviously in the right wing free market ones.

Ask the nice Singletrackworld overlords to reconfigure the forum to just two subcategories:
Think Bike & Think Tank.

My consultancy fee is......
