Saw some amazing spheres, some as big as a medicine ball, where pieces of old sand-blasted timber had been incorporated in the resin then the resin ground to a perfect clear sphere. They were selling for hundreds of Euros in a posh jewellery shop in the French Alps.
Anybody got any idea how this might have been done? It looked as if the sphere had been ground mechanically because the beauty of the pieces is in the way polished wood and resin form the surface.
I've seen small ones done on a lathe
Probably impractical at the size you are talking about, but my first thought was rumbling.
Good video, thanks. I could do that if I had a lathe. So they're called hybrid spheres.
