Currently with EE for my phone contract, wifes phone contract, home broadband and land line!

For ease i would liek to stay with EE at the end of the contract as I enjoy the wifi calling as our house is a dead spot otherwise as is my parents whom i visit regularly!! ALSO CBA getting PAK codes etc to move!!

I would like unlimited calls/texts plus at least 4GB of data for around the £!0 that other providers offer, on HUKD i saw  https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/ee-monthly-rolling-sim-only-deal-9-for-20gb-data-unlimited-calls-texts-retention-deal-2927365 so offers can be made.

How do i twist their arm to get the best deal?

My contract has 10 weeks to run

Ring up tell them you’re leaving keep pursuing until they give you an offer that you like.

BT use the EE network. Price it up, call EE and explain you intend to transfer.

I found that their cheapest SIM only deals weren't that cheap compared to others, but if you want loads of data etc they became competitive.  I have 20Gb of data for £21 and an extra 5Gb because I am a broadband customer.

I then found out that buying a phoen from Samsung worked out a lot cheaper than getting it from EE.

Yup as Scotroutes says look at another provider and tell them they’re offering you a deal, even making it up works.

Get your employer to switch to EE - with employee scheme discount I'm paying about £14 for unltd txt, voice and 12Gb of 4G on their 'best' network. When bought online, the 20% stacked with other deals advertised.

Stuck with raw EE rather than a possibly cheaper BT deal as it gives WiFI calling and Underground signal

Just leave.

<span style="font-size: 0.8rem;">Mrs_oab has been with ee a decade, currently paying £18 a month for iPhone 5s 2gb/500mins+text, ends this month. Currently they won't offer a deal to us to keep phone and stay.</span>

Meanwhile I'm paying £1.93 a month for the sim from Talkmobile (Vodafone) and two mini_oab sim only at £5 month with ID Mobile, for 5gb + 500.

To stay would cost £156 a year more, for less data...

When my contract was due to end I went on the EE website and found a deal which was unlimited calls and texts, 5gb of data and a £50 charge for the phone.

I couldn't find some of the T&C's info online so called, said I was due and looking at their website and was going to look elsewhere for peace of mind too. The women i spoke with waived the £50 and for a few quid less per month got me 15GB data in total instead of 5GB as an offer, I signed up there and then. Just give it a try OP, I didn't play hardball by any sense of the imagine, I also wasn't after the latest shiny phone too.

I rang up and said I was thinking of leaving. They asked me what the deal I had seen was, then offered me the same with extra data and for 1p less.

Plusnet (part of BT) are also doing some great deals on SIM only so might be worth checking.

I’m with EE and when my contract was due ai shopped about and the best deal I could. It was EE through Carphone Warehouse. Phoned EE and they bettered the deal. It took about 15 minutes in total.

Just be brazen about it. “I’ve seen this deal, will you match it?”

My wife scoped a cheaper deal on plus net, phoned up EE who matched it and knocked £1 a month off for loyalty. £8 a month unlimited minutes, texts and 4gb of data.

I'm with 1p mobile who use the EE network. 1p per minute/text/mb.  Super cheap if you don't use much data.  Also you only have to top up 3 times a year when some providers make you top up monthly.

Press the button for "about to leave" on the menu.

I'm not sure how you get their absolute best deal, but this gives a better deal than conventional renewal (to the point that I phoned up to do it, said I'd get back to them, and then went through the other menu where they refused to go by that offer, so I had to go through the menu again...)

That's a good deal - just checked and I can get the same offer as an existing Plusnet customer.

I've been getting reasonable deals via the website upgrade offers on sim only. Oddly I pick a deal, and it keeps telling me I can still upgrade and then I can pick an even better deal. They come and go though.

Last was 12gb on 4G Max (faster speed), unlimited texts and calls, EU roaming (obviously now) but also inclusive roaming in US and Canada which is important to me, and BT Sport via app (including on a tablet or PC), £20. Discounted from £33.

Checking since and still within the last contract and it says I can upgrade and get same but with 20gb for £25.

I don't need it though. 12gb is plenty. If I call to try to move elsewhere I could probably get that price knocked down.

Though looking at the upgrade deals I can't see mention of US/Canada etc roaming. That's a deal breaker. I was almost going to go with Three because they didn't have this before (default is insane £8 per MB price for data!), but suddenly EE offered the extra roaming options on 4G Max.

WiFi calling isn’t restricted to EE - Three do it these days, too. Works well.

Our house is also in a dead spot.

When I was with EE I rang em and they sent me a box to plug into my router. This gives great signal all round the house and garden.

I then left EE for virgin mobile (much cheaper). My wife also left them for plus net.

Both are EE MVNO, and EE didn't match their deals for us.

EE never asked for their box back and its still doing sterling service.

Apologies for a thread resurrection... but is the advice above still sound? Looking for a max data / min calls SIM only deal for my daughter who's just started uni in the UK...

Lucky you. I tried to get a contract with EE but they failed 3 times to get me a SIM so I gave up on them and went to Vodafone who were in fact very efficient and it turned out had better deals (EU data roaming was the main factor).

Other experiences are possible (I suppose).

Just got a new sim for my son. EE were not competitive even though I’ve been with them years.

Retentions couldn’t get near others deals.

To add insult they then keep repeatedly calling me back saying they have got amazing offers.... that are still no where near as good as what I have ended up getting from Plusnet

Don't they all offer that? At least until Brexit?

What are GiffGaff like?

Call and ask for your PAC. Then Mexican stand off. They asked what deal we had on offer (idmoble, 5SE for £15), and then matched that.

Mrs_Oab has new Iphone 5SE with 2GB (+5gb 'boost' as we have Broadband with them) and unlimited calls and texts for £15 a month.

I have new Sony XZ1 on way, with 'only' 2gb of data and unlimited calls for £18 a month, but EE will add another 1GB free as I have another line with them.

I called them up the other day about an upgrade and as we went through the process the chap said on three different occasions “oh, I can better that price”

Always worth a phone call to them.

I rang virgin and told them a deal Vodafone had offered me and she said ok here's your Pac code. I'm now with Vodafone virgin didn't attempt to match it

The customer retention teams are the guys who can offer the deals. You speak to them by saying you are leaving. Find the best deal, then EE you are leaving then ask them to match the deal.

Vodafone allow you to use all your data package - EE and others cap it at 15GB (or half your plan? can't remember ...)

Just as a PSA, and if you wanted to keep the EE coverage, Virgin Media are doing 100gb/5000/U for £20 from today.

Obviously you have the MNVO issues like not getting the latest network features/bands, but seems a decent deal.

I'm with EE but leaving very shortly - they weren't prepared to match a deal I could get via Plusnet.  I've been with them a long time and have the employee call discount (I used to work for them).  But even with that, they're still not particularly competitive.

But it was fun working for them in the IT dev team down in Borehamwood (Elstree towers).

Ee are shit at deal matching these days. Go on uswitch, you will smash any deal they are 9dfering out of the park. But yes you will then need Pac code etc. Depends how much you wanna save v can't be arsedness.

ALSO CBA getting PAK codes etc to move!!

If you can't be arsed doing that then theres a limited number of options that don't also require being arsed.

The easiest thing you can do is not threaten to leave - but just leave. See a better offer - apply for it. You'll have call for a PAK code-  but you'd have to call to pretend to leave too. They only difference is you don't have to play-act.

Given that you're not pretending to leave but actually leaving they'll make a pretty concerted effort to keep you - but it doesn't matter if they don't - as you already have the deal you want - so you don't need to do any negotiating. They'll know what deal they have to beat as you already have it. If they can then offer a deal you like its easy to cancel the new contract (and when you do that the new company will offer you a better deal too). If they don't you've already got them on the phone - so they can give you the code.

There's long been a campaign to get the mobile industry to switch to gaining-provider led process, where like with energy suppliers, you contact the new provider and they just do all the work to switch you. Mobile industry is obviously very resistant to this, except oddly Three who campaigned for this. They were getting people to write to their MPs about it, which I did, and I got the stock Tory bullshit reply which basically indicated the mobile industry have them in their pocket and it would harm them to change the process.

Anyway, Ofcom apparently have demanded they must all provide a text message service to apply for a PAC code, no questions asked. Though again the providers are reluctant, and they can still try to keep you by ringing you up with deals. It's not quite gaining-provider led as you still have to do the work to get the code to leave.

http://telecoms.com/486817/ofcom-makes-switching-mobile-provider-easier-three-still-moans/

They had 18 months to implement this from last December.

Just wish there was one for TV providers also. I need a no hassle way out of Sky.

Ring up or go online and cancel. Takes a few minutes.

It's full allowance.

Yeah, watching video.

I've just upgraded my EE sim only to 12 month 40gb for £25 a month. I use loads of data, as it's my broadband connection when I'm away with work.

The next step on from that in a couple of years is surely unlimited data.

Yeah you have to "leave", then EE call you back to offer you today's deal, and like ordering from Dominos all you want is a small pizza but you end up with 2 large pizza's, 2lt pepsi and a tub of icream ....  As much as a try i can't eat it all or use up the 40 GB of data i have!!

Same deal with Virgin however this time they made me sweet and didn't call me back for 2 weeks !! i think my family would have kicked me out of the house it our tv had been cut off!

Just noticed our plan expired at start of sept, called EE and asked about upgrade deals.

they no longer do my current plan, and if I was to "upgrade" I would be paying more for less data. Told chap that's not an upgrade. He told me to look around for better deals and they would match it, told him if you cant beat any other deal I'll be off to the best deal I can get.

A quick look about whats 3 like? we travel a fair bit so the data roaming does appeal to us.
