Do any accountancy bods know how to find out when a company was dissolved? Turns out the bottom 2/3 of my wife's garden (stop s****ing at the back) was retained by a building co when they sold the property 40yrs ago but building Co now dissolved & would be useful to know when, ta.
Do a search on companies house website.
Look at the documents it should give you the answer.
What’s the company called? Do you have the company Registration number?

This. It's all in the public domain.

I can't find it by searching companies House, possibly because it was dissolved a while back. I do know the name and registration number but don't want to put them on a public forum, can pm anyone if they can help?

If you're thinking of claiming it, check squatting law before alerting the current owner. IANAL
Kinda irrelevant these days because you have to notify the owner before claiming adverse possession. Although if the registered owner is a dissolved company they're unlikely to start eviction proceedings within the time limit.

Trouble is, the big green "start now" button takes you to the beta service which has culled a lot of info- for older dissolved companies you need to use the "WebCheck service" listed further down and tick the dissolved option rather than recently dissolved.
FB-ATB has come up trumps, dissolved in 1995 plus a lot more info. We are selling the house, categorically stating that bottom of garden is not ours but we cleared it of masses of crap, weeds, trees etc and have been using for past 5yrs and viewers have been asking what the situation is. 👍
