Without going into explicit detail, a person who supplies a minor service to us at home was in court recently, or may be soon as schedules do change I understand.
The original charge and first appearance was reported in the local paper, but I can't find any follow up. If he's guilty then I'd like to dispense with his service but want to find out properly what the outcome was. Is there some kind of public record I can access?

Thanks.

It's difficult to say without more detail, but senior courts cases are reported on Bailii.

However, 'smaller' cases (i.e. the majority) are dealt with by crown and county courts and magistrates' courts, which are unlikely to be reported.

I presume from the tone of your post it is a criminal offence, rather than a civil one. If so, you may be able to find details of conviction and sentence by calling the court (if you know which one it was).

It may also be that because of the huge backlog in criminal cases his matter hasn't yet been heard.

Thanks Jakester.
It's definitely criminal and was/is at Chester Crown Court as I remember. I have the same idea about backlog delays but I'm pretty sure the date given has passed by now.

See if you can find it listed at Chester, then ring up with the case number and ask for the outcome.

Spill the beans, what was the offence?

schedules do change

In any event, I sentence you to 5 years for unnecessary use of the word "do" 😉😂

Not sure the ladies will be swiping right on many of those fine-looking individuals. I particularly liked the one which looked like he'd tried to climb through a bramble patch to get away from the police.

EDIT: Read the report - that is indeed what happened to him!

Does it actually matter?

You either trust him or you don't.

It's a fair cop. 5 years seems a bit harsh though, can I have a tag?

You either trust him or you don’t.

I don't know him well enough so I'll let the course of law decide and will make my decision after that. I'm erring on the side of innocent until proven guilty rather than no smoke without fire but the accusation is sufficient that it was a close run thing.
Plenty would think I made the wrong decision, but he's not been put on remand or anything. Does seem to be keeping a low profile however.

Jeez.... top marks to the OP for seeking out the facts, given he has the luxury of allowing a court to decide. Fair enough perchy often that is a good test in everyday life but when matters are serious enough to involve a court best ask the experts.

You’ve perhaps misunderstood me. It’s a test that cuts both ways. I know convicted criminals that I’d happily trust to work in my house and people that have never been in trouble with the law that I wouldn’t piss on if they were on fire.

Judge the man for yourself based on your own experience, is what I was saying

Ok yes now see your point I missed. We agree don’t condemn a man without due consideration.
