My wife loves her job in retail, well she would do if it wasn't for the company/people she works for. So she wants a new job but I could do with some pointers on how to help her, where to look.
I managed to get out of retail into a decent career but it took me a very long time and I don't want her to be waiting as long as I did (3 years!).
She is currently a store merchandiser (won't give actual job title as it might give away her employer!). She has a art based degree.
Where to look? Who to ask?
I would always use the internet a lot for potential jobs but its a minefield with so much guff on there - most annoying is searching on a site for specific areas then get a list of results so far away from what you asked for!!
Forgot to say - area is West Yorkshire.
Does she want to get out of retail - or just shop floor work? Head office based visual merchandiser?
Both really, probably would like to be out of retail but it's difficult.
From what I understand Head Office visual merchandiser is a lot different from store VM, no idea if people make that leap if it's as big as I understand.
Teaching? My daughter has an MA in an art/design subject and as a back up did primary school PGCE(1yr), now working as a reception class teacher and loving it.She has a art based degree
