Morning all. I’m pretty sure you used to be able to see other members email addresses so you could contact them. I’m trying to find out if something in the classifieds is still available and not sure if the seller gets notified when a thread is updated.

I tried using the message function but again, no clue if that notifies them. Should I be able to see an email address in their profile? Is this something you need to be a full member to do?

Thanks

Mention their username - @tonyd - I think that alerts them...I get email alerts if my name is mentioned in a reply (has happened 3 times, so I'm not claiming to be popular or that that is a success, but it seems to do the job).

No, there isn't a way, only the (sometimes broken) message system. Some people choose to put an email in their profile but you have to do it manually hardly anyone does these days. The @ thing sometimes works but I didn't get an alert last time someone used it

No alerts on @ mentions here either.

It's not broken, it's a feature...

The @ thing seems to work for me. I say seems because I occasionally get an email saying I've had a mention but I've no idea if it's every time.

You can turn off all notifications @DickBarton - I have all of the boxes unticked so get nothing.

Interesting. I've have had mention notifications before but not recently. Just checked in settings and notifications have been turned off.

Yep, I've turned off all notifications, so don't get anything.

I’ve had a number of direct messages from the lovely people on here concerning the sad circumstances I’ve had recently, so it does work, and thanks again, they know who they are, and words can’t express my appreciation adequately enough.
