We just changed our kitchen and we now have a drain in the garden outside that's not used. What should I cover it with? Its about 130mm in diameter and seems to be clay.
Does it need to have ventilation or can I just cover it up with something (if so, what?)

I have used a cheap plastic bung to seal the gully and then backfilled to ground level with concrete.

A bung like this might work: https://www.toolstation.com/nylon-drain-plug/p20648

I don't know about the ventilation, but it might give you rodding access and surface water drainage from the yard. I'd do something similar ^^ but use a thick polythene sheet on top of the grid and cover that with mortar so that it's removable

Thanks. I've seen a few caps similar to that but the pipe appears to be too big for them to fit.
