A friend has been given a fibreglass sea kayak. It has had cockpit cover on but the hull is covered is dirty and dark and feels rough.
How best to clean this? It once was a lovely smooth gelcoat surface i assume.
We would like to make it clean smooth and shiny without doing any damage to the surface.
Thanks
Ian
Here’s a link which may help. I used one of the Farecla products to clean and shine up my 1980’s classic Nordkapp sea kayak. Really good result even from applying by hand.

Also worthwhile joining the UK Rivers Guidebook Forum and look in the sea kayaking section. If you post your query in this you will get lots of advice.

Thats great thank you!

You might be amazed at how well bathroom cleaner will work initially - then decide on whether you need to polish it further.
Sounds like it’s knackered. Shouldn’t have been stored with a cockpit cover. Sounds like Moisture in the boat has forced its way through the fibreglass and blown the gel coat.
