unless you are going to start up on your own I think you will be very disappointed with the typical going rate for a mechanic

bloke down the road from me has just set up his own garage and is well into his 50's. however, he has invested a lot of money on kit and is also an mot station. he now employees about 5 guys, and is always busy. I don't know if he's making money though.... non of this helps you but it can be done.

My m8 runs his own little business admittedly he was helped by his parents, in that they gave him a barn/yard (old farm, they sold off the rest when they retired) to operate from. I think the main issue would be training & experience, he was always mechanically minded (disassembling & reassembling motorbike from early age), & went onto work/train with a local mechanic (& college) - He's mega busy though, not charging dealership rates no doubt helps a lot. His obvious issue is diagnosing new stuff, he's never sure what electronic diagnose kit he should buy, but is muddling by for now. Looking 'in' nowadays, do ppl actually get trained as mechanics or just as technicians (part swappers)?

With a name like yours, are you not better suited to Cooking Meth and/or running a Meth Empire? 😉
