What do you struggle with as an adult?

I'm 34 and I still seem to struggle with clothes shopping.

Need trousers. I hate this, I've very long legs and always struggle to find trousers to fit. No matter, last pair from Gap seemed to do, I'll head there.

Go to shop, try on trousers, they fit, cool, I'll take them shop keep.

Were's trousers next day. What the flip, what's happened here, they seem to have shrunk over night. No that can't be, I must have grown. Hmmm, probably not. Oh mother rollocks.

Now, this has happened more than once. I just don't seem capable of judging an appropriate fit in a shop. I just don't understand how I time and time again fork out money for something that doesn't fit. I'm an idiot. An idiot with cold ankles. 😥

Career, speed of progress,beer

On the trousers, if you are happy with gap then why not try something like http://www.landsend.co.uk/ where they will take them up to the correct size for you

Buying clothes on my own is a bit hit and miss...I can try something on and think, yep...this pair is too small, and this pair is just right.

I buy it and realise it's slightly too big.

It applies to anything, shoes, clothes, everything.

I don't have the problem if I go with my wife...on my own I just get fed up with it and think, oh, that'll do.

I just wear shorts all year round, saves buying the wrong length troos.

Take? I find if I look scruffy enough they'll go without you.

Next mail order - troos can be ordered in XXlong. Order lots, return those no good.

I struggled with this so much I ended up getting married to avoid the issue. She now buys my clothes although "I wear the trousers in our house"*

*She chooses which ones

I avoid trying things on because I refuse to accept I'm as overweight as those bloody mirrors suggest.

TIP: buy off ebay - sellers often take more useful accurate measurements of the stuff they are selling, so you can compare to stuff you already have.

Generally I wait til we visit the family in America. Then I buy several pairs of Levis from Kohls on sale, and I go to REI. That really is all my clothes.

What's REI?

Last year I bought some jeans which were way too big.

Instead of taking them back, I went to the pie shop, then the pub, then the chippy.
All of which were a lot nearer.
I kept doing this until they fitted perfectly.

An idiot with cold ankles.

Make wellington boots your 'thing', then it doesn't matter, within a few inches, what length your trousers are.
