If you can't afford an auction bid and want to make a donation in memory of Jenn, the fundraising page is here:

I like this story, and I like the description of the whisky, and the look of the bottle. All of it in fact. I would love to be involved in a cask buy.

Unfortunately for me I imagine even the starting bid will be somewhat beyond my justifiable-to-the-family limits at the moment.

I’m not one of the investors, nor am I a single malt connoisseur, but I have tried it, and it is very tasty....

I think Hannah and i are going to do a live tasting on monday - probably broadcast on Facebook. We have an open office bottle around here somewhere.

See you on Monday then, Mark. (-:

I'm of the same mind as Colin TBH.  I'd love to enter but a) I doubt I'll be able to afford what it's worth and b) given the cause I'd never be able to bring myself to open it.

Fantastic. Would love to add this to my Whisky cabinet but I think the bidding will quickly outstrip my meagre budget. Will stick a bid in anyway though.

That stuff is nectar of the gods.

Tried it once, in a special place with special people. Now a burnt in memory.

Off to check bank balance.

Oof, the bidding is out of my range already.

but I will go and buy myself a nice bottle of single malt and also donate the equivalent value instead.

Jonnieboi, that’s awesome. If you donate I’ll make sure there’s a dram from one of my bottles waiting for you if you ever drop by the office 🙂

Just done. Apparently at the rate you drink I’d better call in before Halloween. So if I’m ever that way I’ll settle for a coffee.

A great cause and I'm sure someone will make a humongous bid to win it. Pity there isn't another spare bottle around. I wonder how much could be raised if a raffle was held, say at £25.00 per entry? I'd be very surprised if at least a hunded tickets weren't sold (£2,500 for the mathematically challenged). Just a thought and as said a deserving cause.

Yes so, I'm a snowflake socialist, so hang me! 😂😂😂😂😂

I'm not a particular fan of whisky, but I'd have to agree.

Bidding has shot out of my price range already, but happy to make a donation if Mark can point me in the right direction. Also if there was a raffle for another bottle I'd happily stump up some cash for that..

The raffle thing is complicated.

https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/for-the-public/Fundraising-and-promotions/Fundraising/Fundraising.aspx

As far as we can tell the least we would need to do is register with the local authority to get legal permission. The fact alcohol is involved probably complicates things.

An auction is essentially a purchase, which is is still complicated where alcohol is involved so in this case we are technically giving a free thank you bottle to the largest donator to St Gemma’s. We are deliberately not touching the cash. The winner is making a direct donation so we are properly isolated from any transaction.

This is the best we can do right now with our limited resources. If anyone is an expert and can show us or help us do it better I can donate a bottle to the cause.

There's a link on the article, and I added it to the bottom of the OP also.

I hasten to add, that jemma_jura (oft referred to as MrsTH) has played as much a part in this as I have.

Cracking taste in men too, mostly.

Tom, that's a fantastic winning bid. I thought my name was on that one.

Will donate to St Gemma's as my consolation effort.

Heh 🙂 Interestingly/worryingly it's not stocked in any UK supermarket anymore!

Good work Tom, enjoy it! I shall console myself with a dram from the cupboard and bung a few quid to St Gemma (patron saint of, amongst other things, those suffering with headaches/migraines & those struggling with temptations to impurity).

Cheers, Will be enjoying it, but not for a few years. MrsTH and I will use it to celebrate either 10 or, perhaps more appropriately, 13 years or marriage. As we got married 2 months ago, you might have to wait a while for the tasting notes...

Seems I got a bargain though, as the bottle that was auctioned at the STW awards raised £1070, thanks to a syndicate involving most of the bike industry, led/encouraged/bullied by one Mr The Bikemonger...

That auction was legendary.

Anyone who donates to St. Gemmas can have a dram from one of my bottles at the office if you pop by. Screen grab your donation receipt like what Tom did.

I'll bob in a Glenfiddich 12 (Mine and Dad's favourite tipple when we get together 🙂 )
