Late 30's early 40's.

If pushed, would go for the older end of the scale.

It's tricky isn't it. Would've been even harder if it weren't for the mugshots thread.

I suppose we can guess people's ages on STW from the stuff they discuss ie kids, houses, jobs etc...

ooh ooh - found a clue - isn't this fun!

molgrips - Member
I like it. I like early Dylan quite a bit.

Doesn't matter that his singing/playing is a bit pants, that's part of it imo. The music was a reaction to popular culture I think, hence it's simplicity and crudeness but yet not at the same time. Kind of like punk.

NB I am too young to have been there so may be talking bolx.

Hehe. That's what got me thinking about it.

I think Smee is 36, antigee is 29 (no idea really 🙂 ), Rusty is 40 and Poddy is 45.

I LOOK 50 though.

Give us a clue 😉

What childhood sweets did you used to eat?

Did you play football with a brick?

What type of bike did you cycle to school on?

Flares or pins?

Denim or donkey jacket 😉

Judging by yer mugshot, Molgrips, I'd say mid-forties?

I'm 9 1/4.

but I have posted my age, so you can't have that one

I SWEAR I didn't know, that was a total guess!

Ok then. The first few pop songs I can remember hearing are "Go wild, go wild, go wild in the country, where snakes in the grass are absolutely free" or "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to".. or "prince charmiiiing".. I used to eat Wham bars, refresher chews, space invader crisps..... I had a school bag with Liverpool on it even though I knew nothing about the club. And I can remember Thatcher being elected - albeit dimly.

Ah, got you mixed up with someone else, Molgrips. Soz!

Mid to late 30s then?

A mate and I were discussing another friend of ours, to whom the years have not been kind. Me mate said 'by the time he's 40, he'll have no hair and 5 teeth'. The poor bloke was never a looker, and he hazzunt looked after himself too well. Bad lifestyle, thinking a bit of Yoga now and then will fix everything.

[edit] Din't hit 'post'. Din't see that you are in fact 33.

I remember a big fuss from my parents, and I remember a lady (whom I later recognised from my own memories as Thatch) talking from Downing Street. I seem to remember a lot of things from retrospectively piecing together what I've learned with mental images from the time. For instance, talking about the miners strike on here helped me remember lots of news items and stuff from the time and make more sense of them now than then.

Go Wild in the Country was released in 1982.
I became aware of pop music when I was about 6.
So that makes you 33

Awesome!

first pop song I remember

How old you are when you remember your first pop song will depend a lot on whether you had older brothers and sisters. I'm the oldest of five, so don't really remember pop songs until I was fairly old. First number one I can remember is Sinita (I think) - "Running just as fast as we can, holding onto one anothers' hand..."

guess I'm either a lot older than you and Mike, or my parents were more into music. I'll take the latter 🙂

So, how old is molgrips?

I reckon you're 34 Rudeboy.

I spose that's mildly flattering. Is that from stuff I post, or from me mugshot?

I'm 3 years off 40. Virtually all me hair, and all me own teeth, no fillings at all. No badly broken bones ever, just a touch of Arthritis, and a bit short sighted. Doing well, I think.

I've still got it...

What? S'not some 'inappropriate' image, is it? It's meant to be a pic of Bow Wow Wow singer Annabella Lwin. Possibly a little suggestive, but nowt that breaks forum rules.

Tell me it hazzunt hotlinked to nastiness again, please?

RudeBoy, being thought of as younger than you are is a complement when people see you in real life, but an insult when people have been reading your forum postings 🙂

I don't get the fillings comments. Is there some new process going on at dentists that i'm not privy to?

I've got quite a few fillings. But you'll not be able to guess my age from that because I got most of them when I was a child.

Actually, if they guessed me as being 12, on that basis, I'd say it was quite fair..

I may be staring at the big 4-0, but it ain't slowed me up that much. Scored at least 3 goals last night (hotly disputed 4th, as the opposition cried handball. If there was the briefest touch, then it was certainly ball to hand. Not HB, in the rules), and set up 2 others, to help my team to a 7-4 victory.

I can't turn quite as quickly as I could in my teens, and me knees feel it a lot more these days, but I still enjoy it just as much, maybe more, as I'm probbly more relaxed about it.

Same with riding; I was a lot more competitive when I was younger, and would chase down every other cyclist on the road. Now, I watch others go past me, busting a gut to be in front, only to catch up with them at every set of lights. Off road, I know my own limits, and know how to push myself just enough, to still enjoy it. Actually probbly prefer the social aspect more than anything else.

Funny; every age I've been, has been the best age to be.
