I was very surprised by this industry statistic..
The firm said studies show that the average number of times men shave per month has fallen from 3.7 to 3.2 over the last decade.
I know hipster beards are popular but they aren't a big chunk of the population, so I naively expected most men would shave every day. Obviously not....
I shave every working day. At weekends I shave on days that I'm doing something smart (going to a wedding for example). When left to my own devices (holidays) I shave every four days as it starts to itch if I leave it longer than that.
Probably about once a month. #beardy
At least once every day.
Same as edd ^^
Beard gets trimmed about once every 10 days, legs twice per week.
Every working day. Never at weekends.
A bread trim whenever it starts to look scruffy
Previously, daily or every other day. It was a balancing act between scruffy stubble and razor burn.
Now, not shaved since December (and that was a bad decision, how do you beard-less people cope with cycling in winter).
Thinking I might go back to a #6 after SSUK as it's becoming high maintenance.
Never more than once a week, probably closer to once a fortnight.
Once a week as i can only grow hair above my top lip, baby faced 45yr old.
Depends when the next important business meeting is, or when the stubble starts to itch like mad, whichever is the sooner.
Once in the last eight years and immediately regretted it. Trim the neck and tidy the beard regularly though.
Used to be every day ..now every other day unless work dictates otherwise ..
My dad has only shaved twice in 50 years.
The first time he slipped with the trimmers and had to shave his 20 year beard off. My mum was working nightshift and when she came home in the morning she screamed the place down when she saw a strange beardless man sleeping in her bed.
The second time, I saw a guy I didn't recognise driving my mums car and phoned her in case it had been stolen....."That's your Dad, son"
Once or twice a week depending how scruffy I'm looking or if I'm attending any meetings where I'm not suppose to look scruffy at.
🙂 🙂 @ PP
Every day during BST ,if I don't it grows so tough I have to use an angle grinder.
Once or twice a week depending on how lazy I feel.
I don't work in a formal business and nobody really cares about such things.
Head/ beard once a week.
Neck, ( the bit that isn't covered with beard) every couple of days.
every other day. Maybe every third if the third happens to fall on the weekend, like currently (I shaved yesterday morning, didn't this morning, and probably won't tomorrow, at least not until after I've been out riding - sweaty face on irritated skin)
I just use clippers once a week, back to .4mm or whatever bollox is said on the box. Do tidy the top edges up if going out with a razor.
studies show that the average number of times men shave per month has fallen from 3.7 to 3.2 over the last decade.
It's an average. Gawd knows how they studied it. Sales of razors?
I shave daily, except the days I don't.
Once every 7-10 days but just with clippers. The last time I was clean shaven was my first day of work in my current job, 2.5 years ago.
I shaved every day / every other day for about 10 years (since 14) and it was wrecking my face / neck so I stopped.
About every second day, ish,
Every day including weekends if i'm going out of the house.
Not for about 15 years. Once every two weeks with trimmer head and beard usually same length. Easy life.
I use clippers with no guard, but I'm lazy so can leave it a good few weeks before shaving again. In winter I tend to get more beardy.
I have a proper wet shave about twice a year maybe.
I hate wet shaving.
Shave?
Does run a number one over the chin count?
If so, twice a week.
Days of being clean shaven have long since left my building.
Once a month, outsourced to my local Turkish barbers.
Haircut, shave and my ears set alight for €20.
Once a day, one of the essential 3 s's upon waking for me.
Twice a day in basic.
Now every two days. So by my rough maths 15 times a month.
Shaving 3 times a month I'd save a fortune in razors
A couple of time a month or when I start looking like tramp.
Winter time I normally stop at the start of Dec and might shave sometime in the new year I work outdoors and it keeps me warm.
I shave on Sunday night and Tuesday night. Look a bit unshaven on Tuesday and look a bit more unshaven on Friday but only means shaving twice a week. I am hairy and grow a beard quickly so really should shave every day but I get away with it.
Are we talking face or legs?. 😀
When my tache starts getting in the way when eating, I'll get the clippers out. Haven't had a wet shave for a couple of years, I look about 12 when I do!
7 am every morning.
I'm assuming we're speaking face, not elsewhere...
I just use a beard trimmer with the guard off, once a week ish, I'm a hairy legged cyclist
If anyone in Manchester knows of a Turkish barbers that does a shave let me know
1-2 times per week.
Face - daily wet shave. Other areas - when necessary.
Once a week before my weekly shower
I run a No1 over my face every two or three weeks. It's a faff I can't face everyday..
Full shave? Probably once every couple of years. Chop my beard off a couple of times a year with a trimmer on lowest setting. Legs get done every week.
Twice a week. Probably a bit more if I need to look smarter
twice a week too .
trim every other monthish
Once a day seems like overkill. As stated though, shaving is a rare mistake for me. I’m basically a wolfman in the facial hair department, but can’t imagine needing to shave every day. I’d be penniless from the expenditure on razors and foam 😀
BST - every 2 or 3 days
GMT - never (OK - an occasional tidy-up)
2/3x per week, postponed during relatively severe cold snaps down south.
I shave both ways 😂
to last longer between ...
shaves
Face - every other day.
Balls - about once a month
Legs - never
Once, maybe twice a week.
Ive set the bar pretty low with my appearance in general so very little is expected of me. One of my better strategies for reducing pointless bullshit in my life tbh.
Nah.
Big full beard me.
With my shift pattern only When I'm in work on days Monday to Friday as that's when the jobs worths are in
So about 5 days a month shift work has it uses
Week off every 4 weeks helps to
Barber trims it once a quarterish... haven’t (electric) shaved for 3 ish years. Never wet shaved.
#hipsterbeardcentral
#hipsterbeardcentral
a happy coincidence for me, I simply can’t be arsed to shave.
The beard came not because of the hipsters. I look young for my age , so it adds a few years. The cost of razors also, The faff and time. Then it was the rashes and sensitivity from wet shaving every other day, my neck would burn.
My beard is an entirely vanity based decision, I look better with one than without according to Mrs Lunge. And that’s good enough for me.
Legs started getting shaved as I find it reduces chaffing when running. The fact that toned, tanned legs look better when shaved (again, according to Mrs Lunge) is a very nice bonus too. It does attract the odd comment when you walk into a football changing room or on our annual “sod this, it’s too hot, we’re wearibg shorts” week at work.
only for court apearances
Once, maybe twice a week.
One of my better strategies for reducing pointless bullshit in my life tbh.
This. See also Ironing. Self ironing shirts and careful drying strategy is close enough. I’ve also slowly changed my office culture to be accepting of jeans. It only took a formal reprimand before they accepted that it was jeans or they could fire me. Half the office now wears smart jeans.
Last wet shave was about ten years ago. When I did shave it was on a Monday morning only. Now my beard gets trimmed when I have to think about drying it post-shower.
Bloody hipsters have ruined things for long term beardy men. I like to think they all copied me 😀
Have to admit, "Work From Home" days I just can't be bothered now (though I can be bothered to go on a bike ride 😀 ).
Office days I'll make the effort, though it's for no one else's benefit. Just habit.
Havent wet shaved for about 15 years now, no guard on clipper buzz about once a fortnight
Cost of razors - £10pm = 120pa + same on foam and accessories = £240pa x 15 years = £3600 to do something to myself i never enjoyed and used to make my neck burn
Clippers were £70, still got them although have purchased new blades once at about £15 = £85
Said clippers also used for hair saving me £15(?) x 12 cuts pa = £150pa x 15years = £2250 saving
Clippers also used for cutting two dogs (I know, I know), one 14 years old the other 7 - saved myself a fortune getting them done 'professionally", estimated saving £3000 (21 years of dog clipping)
I reckon buying a pair of clippers and not wet shaving has saved me approx £8 - 10,000 over 15 years and months worth of hours standing in front of a mirror........whats not to like!
Brilliant SIB. Never thought of it like that.
I've not shaved since I left school 18yrs ago, and in those days weekly with an electric razor was fine. Now trim once a month ish with clippers, due another trim some time soon as it's getting pretty bushy again. I have never had a wet shave in my life.
Someone on the first page mentioned riding in the winter clean shaven - I can feel the difference between bushy and trimmed, no beard must be horrendous on really cold days. How do girls manage?
Every second day if I'm in the office, once week if not.
I last shaved in July 2007, but I look ridiculous clean shaven.
Proper shave once or twice a year. Stubble trim once or twice a week
Daily when working, rarely when not£10 a month on razers plus the same on "accessories"? I doubt I spend 1/10th of that! Same handle and brush for 30 years, cartridge blades £1 each and each one lasts a couple of weeks, tube of shave gel a few quid every few months
I stopped shaving everyday around the same time I stopped wearing a tie to work and switched to chinos rather than 'work' trousers.
I shave once a week now, even then mostly it's with a hair trimmer without the guard, so still looks stubbly. Occasionally I'll wet shave. If I could push through the itchy phase I'd just grow a beard.
I seem to be unusual in shaving daily (wet shave, face only). I'd rather shave less often, but I find it more of a PITA to shave longer stubble or a beard in terms of shaving rash and general discomfort.
I ineffectually wave my electric razor at my face every morning, which means I look like I didn't shave today, forever. Best of both worlds.
Never, shaving is expensiveI also i'm trying to run Gillette out of business, it's a lifelong calling.
When my ears start aching, or it gets too itchy, or for a smart do. Had long sideburns for 25 years though, so these don't match long stubble as much.
