Today I had a pint of water with a berocca when I got up. Purchased a two litre bottle of water for my journey which I drank, came home and since had about another litre I reckon. Plus two coffees. Stil feel thirsty. And today is a rest day.

My colleague only drinks coffee during the day. I could not function like that.

How much do you drink a day?

Started to try and drink more generally but especially on days where I'm going to be riding after work. Usually 2 mugs of tea a day and at least 2 litres of water. Plus usually a good pint and 1/2 of semi skimmed milk.

None because it's horrible. But then I'll probably have between one and ten coffees and usually a bottle of red and maybe a glass of full fat milk.

Probably about seven mugs of coffee and eight glasses of water during the day, then a bottle of beer in the evening.

2-3ltrs, I only drink water though (well beer as well but I don't count that). Extra water for any exercise/activity as required.

I hate water, but I will drink a couple of pints when I get home from work by adding a drop (and I mean a drop) of squash to give it a bit of flavour.

Normally a pint glass full before I leave the house, a couple of coffees in the morning with a couple of litres while at work and then another 3 pint glasses worth in the evening at home. More if exercising.

3-4 litres, through the medium of diet pop.

Type 1 diabetic, if my blood sugar is high, I reckon I could comfortably (as in easily) triple that.

I used to get through 8 litres a day, it made no difference to my thirst, but I went to the toilet *a lot*.

Was tested for diabetes, but no.

I consciously reduced it to about 3-4 litres a day with the effect of my pee having a bit of colour. Otherwise, nothing - I'm still thirsty.

Today I had...
~2l in five large cups of coffee
~750ml with electrolyte tabs for a fairly intense ~15 mile ride
~750ml of water after getting in from ride

Plus one for drink when thirsty. I mainly drink coffee and not much else. Not that it applies here, but wasn't the whole you need X amount of water a day proven to be a myth propagated by a drinks firm?

3 litres of Sparkling water a day and 500 ml of Diet Coke.
Just got back from Rhodes and was drinking 4/5 litres of water a day there because it was so warm.

Actually thirst is a very poor indicator of when your body actually needs water. If you wait until you feel thirsty then you're way past the point when your body actually wants water and already putting your kidneys under stress. Best to drink a little often through the day. Targeting x litres or water a day is a nonsense. The amount of water your body needs varies from day to day, season to season etc.

The colour of your wee is an indicator of if you are well watered or not....assuming you've not had Berocca recently.

Must be plenty of days when I only drink tea and wine, although generally not in the same mug.

I try and have a pint of fizzy water with mango Ribena in the evening, but often get waylaid by the wine fridge.

I don’t drink much on the bike either - I’ll rarely get through 500ml in a 100km road ride. I don’t seem to sweat to much either although whether that is cause or effect I don’t know!

I always thought we got most of the water we need through food, rather than drinking loads of it! I tend to drink about 500ml of squash through the day then a couple of cups of tea, and a glass of diet coke with dinner.

Also we have evolved an amazing mechanism to control water levels, I am happy to trust the warning part of that mechanism (thirst). I know for endurance athletes a problem has been arising of people drinking too much water, because they have been following the mantra of drink plenty even if you don't feel thirsty!

how much unnecessary packaging do you consume through drinking every day?

If there is no packaging doesn't the liquid find its own level quite quickly? 🙂

Very little. A fair bit of tea throughout the day but most of our water comes from food anyway.
