The doctor told me to put olive oil in my ear to soften a wax build up. She didn't say how much.

Also, seeing how she battered her printer (not a euphemism) I'm glad I wasn't in to have my prostate flicked.

Did you ask what kind of olive oil?

Ordinary, Virgin, Extra Virgin? Each will make your ear taste slightly different. Don't go for EV if you're thinking of frying the wax afterwards... it'll catch in the pan.

I prefer my printers breadcrumbed rather than battered, especially if frying in olive oil, or earwax..

Not very much, or just enough, but definitely stopping before too much

Umm being as I do do this (the shame), a couple of drops from a pipette type thingy (ear dropper?) and even then most will drain out anyway.

should you warm the oil before dripping it in.

Not smoking obviously, but a bit? Like stand the syringe in a cup of hot water beforehand.

No, just use the chilli-enfused stuff for pizzas

Shouldn't she put it in her ear, if she's got a wax build up?

GP advised me to to that - give it 10secs in the micro-ping, check temperature then add a few drops (that was the technical, medical terminology I was given to work with) to the old lug-ole.
I was also advised to keep the treated ear pointing in a vertical direction for 5 mins or so in order the oil could do its stuff, as opposed to just dripping straight back out again...

on the olive oil and vinegar theme;

"Doctor Doctor I've got a lettuce growing out of my bottom"

"bend over I'll have a look, ah yes I can see something green there"

"that's just the tip of the iceberg!"

"I've got a dressing for that"

You could vary the temperature to check for brain stem death too. Win-win.

You need to use artisan olive oil.

Ah, takes me back to my Youth. After swim sessions I would have bad ear ache, Mum would (feels like) pour some warm olive oil in my ear.
The feeling as it welled up in my ear was so soothing.
Lying across the sofa for a while, with all the noise just a faint distance muffle.
Then the reality when you sit up, and it all drains out.

Coincidentally, I was looking on eBay earlier and found this imaginatively named product

We've been using that very stuff on my daughter for the past week.

they recommend massaging the front of the ear after application to help loosen things up.

Just shove a whole olive in each ear for a slow release solution.

Use pitted and you can still hear too!

Isn't an Almond a unit of volume roughly equating to a horse full?
