No way to make this interesting i'm afraid.  I know that I should get multiple quotes but i'm quite lazy and he seems like a very nice man.  Prices seem reasonable to me.  Should I go for it?  Based in midlands.

1) Complete window 1850x1200, 3 openings, toughened glass.

2) Complete window 1250x1200, 2 openings, toughened glass

3) 2 peices of glass Only, toughened, 1220x1100 and 1030x450

All the above fitted for £1400

Next, a complete bay window, 1 opening with window board, 620x1850x620 by 1200 high, fitted £1240.

Cheers 🙂

I' get another quote. You can even go direct to a fabricator and get a price quite easily. There's a fair bit of labour in that first quote.

Dropped you a message rather than put it on the forum as a few names mentioned. Let me know how you get on.

Fensa registered is he?

Or equivalent competence and proof of performance.

OP - have a good hunt.

We had three windows and new patio doors (with new small wall as we narrowed door opening).

Firstly we struggled to find fitters who would also do the wall. And brickies who would fit Windows.

Then door quotes were £2-4k, windows in top.

I bought Synseal doors with highest performing glass I could for £620 from manufacturers direct in Rotherham. It took less than a morning for me to build new wall and afternoon to fit doors - I also did one of the windows in same day.

Seems reasonable compared to some of the pressure sales guys. They'd start off with £5k at least for that lot.

If the sales guy turns up in a s****y car and wearing expensive suit and bling watch, you know it's a rip off 😉

Also watch out for the classics, like on negotiating a price they want to use *your* phone to call their boss (his mate down the pub) who then reluctantly agrees he can offer a lower price and how you're getting a rock bottom deal they don't normally offer to anyone, etc. 😀

I once found all the tricks somewhere online, had one of these guys round and managed to tick the whole lot off. He tried them all. End of it all, it was still higher than the local independent, who start out by simply saying their prices are those prices, take it or leave it. They don't haggle.

The quote that I have had is from a local chap (is Fensa registered).  He basically said that this is the price, take it or leave it.  He's already booked up into June which I think is likely a good sign.

Cheapest is certainly not always best in the window game. Levels of hardware are vastly different.
