On the back of the "how much does your house use" thread...

We've got a fridge/freezer. It's quite new (last year). Its A+ rated.

The manufacturers site claims 447kWh/year use.

A power meter says we're using more like double that amount.

Anyone else measured their fridge and had a similar kind of inconsistency with the claimed figures?

Its a frost free jobbie, and inside, it is indeed without frost.

I can't help wondering if we've got a door seal that doesn't quite seal, or something similar.

Why not get inside and check to see if there's any light coming through?

you could check if the light goes off when you close the door while you're in there.

Cut down on snacking, by opening the door every 5 minutes to get a sausage roll you're letting out all that cool air and making the fridge work harder.
