I was searching for a packet of macadamia nuts for a crimbo treat. None of the major stores seemed to do them so in desperation I looked in Holland and Barratt. They had them is stock but... You'd better be sitting down... 200g cost £7.69. SEVEN POUNDS SIXTY NINE!

I'm not searching for a packet of macadamia nuts for a crimbo treat now. Not at that price.

£7.69... I blame those women cornering the supply for their hair oils and cosmetics...

I didn't spot them in Waitrose. But then again I was trying not to run over with my trolley the better class of out-of-control brat that they have there...

Have you seen their staffing costs?

You pay peanuts, etc.

Seems crazy but then, I don't have kernel knowledge of the nut industry.
I certainly wouldn't shell out that much.

I always buy mine at £3.99 for 200g.

The only issue is I need to order them Half a Ton at a time to get a decent price 😉

there's now some poor sod at buywholefoodsonline celebrating a mammoth Macadamia nut order in the offing.

They're probably getting in extra staff to cope.
