Snapped a spoke on my last outing in the woods. Haven't had time to get it fixed yet, but made me wonder how many dodgy/snapped spokes can I have before it's a very bad idea to ride it. Usual rides include a few drops here and there - nothing more than a couple of ft...

I had 3 go on the way home once - Still here to tell the tale. But it didn't feel nice

If you are doing drops with snapped spokes... You probably deserve the sore face if it happens. 😆
Too many variables.
Are they all next to each other or spread out around the wheel?
Does the wheel have a particualy low spoke count?
Are you a big biffer?
Are you doing daft things like jumps or drops? ... Oh.
Currently just the 1 spoke, and I’m not particularly heavy (72kg)... but, consensus seems to be to err on the side of caution. 🙂
I once did 6 spokes in a single incident at the top of whistler. Swapped a few spokes round so the 6 missing weren't all in the same section and rode the rest of the day, then replaced them that evening. Normal riding, big jumps and drops. Was fine
Watching with interest. Have merrily clattering my way around the rockiest bits of Yorkshire and North Wales with a missing spoke for the past 3 months. I figure an insert and dual ply rear tyre should stop the absolute worst case wheel explosion. That's how it works, right?
