You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Just passing time and from the "do you even have time to ride" type comments on another thread.
Currently on 3714km and 131 hours. Out of that approx 2400 have been indoors on Zwift, the remainder have been outside.
400 yards / 2 mins.
210km, lost my mojo last november, only just getting it back... I've ran 530km though, so not just being a lazy bastard.
322 miles. Way down but I’ve been surfing loads.
801km
46hrs 8 Mins
8,438m Elevation
So about 750km down on my target, well down on last year and my total elevation is close to what my monthly used to be in Hobart!!
Aim is still for 4,000km by the end of the year
Edit - Outdoors only inside KM don't count 😉
3200km and 194hrs all outdoors. Well down on this time last year (4600km & 273hrs) but height gain is only just down so I've probably been doing harder rides. The main reason for the lower distance is that I've not been commuting on the bike as much.
384km
42hrs 9m
12,426m climb
I don't include the bitter winter of swearing and shouting at the god awful boring static bike / cross-trainer thing.
I've been trying for longer rides and sneaking extra rides when I can, but it seems I'm going to still reach my 1000km annual average.
515 miles
61,000 feet of climbing
nearly 100 hours.
I'm really pleased with that as, bar 2 commutes, its ALL been off road. Smiles not miles.
-2 miles, 3000 feet of climbing. Rode backwards up a really steep hill
1,555.5 km Strava tells me.
I've not been commuting this year, have done 9 rides, 269km, 3057m of climbing.
Looks like I've been slacking off, but you should see the DIY I'm getting through...
About 1800km, roughly 80 a week, all outside, mix of commute and off road
1266km, 63hrs, 17,122m well behind on where I should be. Majority commuting too, ballbags. Moved house in Feb which has knackered it.
Distance 1,766.7 km
Time 100.40
Elev Gain 39,051 m
Rides 63
...mainly off road bar the Fred. Continuing a gentle downward trend, and the downwards are getting increasingly gentle, though I guess that these numbers will go up a fair bit through summer and with a bit more road and commuting.
1207 miles, 282 miles on zwift and the rest off road. I was on just over 300 by the end of January, but had to get rid of the turbo as trying to mash out 300+ watts for over an hour was destroying my knees. I did try riding at a lower power but I just got really fed up as I only really enjoyed the Zwift races. This meant the mileage dropped a bit after January as I was recovering but since the knee has been better I've been steadily upping the mileage.
Distance: 515.2 mi / 829km
Time: 56h 57m
Elev Gain: 40,568 ft / 12,365 m
Rides: 36
Not including daily commute - 5 miles, not hilly
1,248km... 35,000m ascent... 122 hours
That's just running though
2000 km, 110hrs 28000m climbing
Im enjoying bikes at the mo!
7,695km so far, 68,000m of climbing and 288 hours. Not including 7 mile commute a day.
1400km
72hrs
22000m
Vast majority is commuting 🙁
Just over 1000 miles on the bike, the vast majority of which are outside.
300 miles running too, which isn't as much as I expected it to be.
Not as much as I'd like really which is odd as I run or cycle every day. Need some big rides over the summer and perhaps some long training runs too.
errrr 3,869 miles 225 hours and 181,000 feet of climbing, mostly outdoors but a fair chunk of Zwift, on target for an 8000 mile year, definitely not as fit as those numbers say I should be though, need to make more of those miles have a goal I think...
7,695km so far, 68,000m of climbing and 288 hours. Not including 7 mile commute a day.
Is is your commute to your job as a cycle courier?? 😳
65 hours and 863 miles, all outdoors.
75 miles and 12 hours of that have been offroad. Majority has been commuting.

I don't strava my commutes anymore though so it's a bit more than that.
FTP up to about 325 watts and weight down to 77kg (that reminds me I need to update project 5w/kg thread).
1528km

1400miles, 165hours, 98000ft, 151 rides.
Been commuting to work, 3 miles each way for a good part of the year. Nice not being in the car and with the recent dry weather have been taking the long way home.
Surely zwift doesn't count?
According to Strava - 78 rides, 74hr 56m, 713miles, 71414ft
from the “do you even have time to ride” type comments on another thread.
My comment on Kryton's latest car thread? I've only ridden 1260 miles this year and Kryton's probably kicking my backside.
7,695km so far, 68,000m of climbing and 288 hours
Wow... impressive !
Surely zwift doesn’t count?
Tell that to the pro-riders who train on it... tell that to the XC racers who use it too.... etc.. How can it not count ?
If road riding counts, surely that's wrong as it's easier than MTBing... how about DH riding, that can''t count as you're not pedalling.
Does riding down to the end of the street and back to test your new dropper post count?
If not, I might need to revise my estimate downwards. 🙁
1420Km
117h
All on the MTB. Most of which when it's not been raining. Well down on last year. But I refuse to use Zwift, as I hate it. That doesn't include other stuff like Squash, as Strava sees that as a workout, but doesn't include it in the stats.
Do need to do a bit more, but currently 2 weeks into yet another chest infection, so will have to wait.
From 1st January 2018
1794km (all but 60km are on the MTB)
146 hrs
49092m elevation
52 rides
Only rode 66km in Jan due to illness
Just over the 1200 mile mark. Was well past the 1700 point this time last year but I was packing in the miles ready for a SDW attempt and toying with road rides too then. Add in that I've been spending more time in the gym over the winter and that I lost 2 weeks of commuting and riding thanks to snowmageddon and it's not surprising I m down on last year. Focussing more on technique this year. Still aiming for 3k for the year though. I'm actually up on riding time, but t that's more to do with doing a lot of sessioning of stuff rather than getting out more.
244 hours
3241 miles

With the lease car going back, 15-20 hour weeks are becoming more common. Just need to translate that into getting faster and not just plodding along.
Tell that to the pro-riders who train on it… tell that to the XC racers who use it too…. etc.. How can it not count ?
Riding - actually moving a bike across the ground
Indoor - list the KM's as a separate activity
Way down. Lowest in 5 years or so.
And Zwift? Have a look at yourself for goodness sakes!!!
assuming we're all part of a computer simulation anyway, what's the difference?Riding – actually moving a bike across the ground
Indoor – list the KM’s as a separate activity
I think it's about 6 miles and half an hour. Or maybe that's just how it feels :hmmm:
It appears it's actually 942 miles (1519km) and 54 hours, which is overwhelmingly the least I've done by this point in the year in the last 18 years. *sigh*
Tell that to the pro-riders who train on it… tell that to the XC racers who use it too…. etc.. How can it not count ?
If road riding counts, surely that’s wrong as it’s easier than MTBing… how about DH riding, that can”t count as you’re not pedalling.
It's a training tool - that happens to mimic a bicycle. Like a spin class.
Road riding counts, because, well it's riding a bike.
Cycling: about 600km, 40 hours. Excluding commuting which would add another 300km or so.
Running: about 500km, 52 hours.
I don't count my riding in km or hours. Riding to work isn't included either.
Visits to bikeparks totals 5 though.
that happens to mimic a bicycle.
How does it mimic it if i'm sitting on the same bike using the same action to produce watts ? The only thing that doesn't change is the movement of the front wheel.
497 miles over 36 hours with 9000m elevation.
About typical by this time of year but I have ridden every Saturday and Sunday so far this year with exception of 2 days.
You’re right, it’s the same.

No weather, no wind, no potholes.... it's an exercise bike. It's also a training tool
2125 km/1320 miles.
15850 m/ 52,000 ft climbing
90 hrs 25.
A lot of that is commuting, which is pretty much pan-flat. Zwift? I'd rather throw all my bikes in the cut.
Distance 2963km
Rides 82
Elevation 61,768
Time 11d 3h 10m
Forest road with bits of single.
2438Kms this year in 101 hours, a lot of it commuting, but all of it on a proper bike, on roads and trails and a lot of it cold and wet!
Running: 282kms in 21 hrs 37. Agree with tthew on Zwift too!!
Sheesh! Theres some big miles out there. Great job people.
I only track mtb rides, commute is V short, and I've managed so far:
46 rides, 776.4km, 60h 27mins, and 15,500m ascent.
I'm quite pleased with that. Been nice to go out with friends about once a week also, gives things a push.
Getting gradually faster this year too, which is always a nice feeling when heading into my mid-40s 🙂
2500 miles since 1st January. Not including track riding which would add about another 300 miles
It's a bit down on where I normally am - usually I go to Spain for about 10 days in March but this year I didn't so that's knocked about 800 miles off my usual total to date. Also the properly shit weather in February / March really impacted my riding.
I did manage to get just over 600 iles in over Christmas though thanks to a nice holiday in the sun so at least i finished last year on a high, let's hope I can repeat that this year.
Some Zwift miles mixed in but no commutes as any journeys home from work have been proper road rides of 20 miles or more.

All off road. I guess riding in the Lakes has its benefits
Strava tells me 1341km, 79h, 13387m over 44 rides.
Guess around 10 of those rides were on TrainerRoad.
224 hours (inc a small amount of zwift hours)
3,904km (not including zwift)
68,000 meters of climbing (also not including zwift)
1050 miles - way down on target but it’s tough to get away from work in early half of year.
90,000ft of elevation - had a few big days out.
2041 KM
15950 M Elevation

Excluding Virtual Rides. If you count them I've ridden up Col l du Tourmalet, Stelvio and many other big mountain climbs over the winter, except I haven't. I was sitting in a hot room making the Video on Big Ring VR move with my legs. Good training though!
1,400 miles so far (I can only think in miles), 150,000 ft of ascent. All off-road rides, although a bit of tarmac creeps into them. Well up on the same point last year, despite spannering myself a bit at the first hint of good weather.
4953km, 80,377m of climbing, in 74 rides and 208 hours.
Half of those miles are abroad; I like holidays....
No Zwift.
Distance 3124 miles
Time 201h 21m
Elevation 140,741ft
No virtual miles or turbo time, mixture of road and off-road.
1,134 miles
75,285 ft elevation

A fair bit of that is commuting. Down on what I was hoping for but the awful weather has had an impact. Time to make up for it now the sun's out. That being said I'm on holidays for three weeks this year with no possibility of taking a bike or riding. So I've had to turn to the dark side and have literally just started running as no exercise would do my head in.
2700km
106 hours
30,000m elevation (am dubious of this, some rides Strava has been obviously reading approx 50% high, so more likely 20,000m).
Am disappointed with that actually, felt like I had been riding loads, but then, 2700km IS loads by my previous standards. Having a 9 month old at home has limited opportunities for long rides, but I guess I could be commuting more, I tend to think 'rest day' = 'no riding' when I guess it could just mean 'not hammering the whole way'.
All outdoors though, quite pleased with some of the horrendous weather I've ridden through, agonising over layering and learning to never stop if cold and wet paid off handsomely in early January...
Building up to a 525km ride in September, and got a 328km ride coming up end of June, so at least the tally will get a nice little bump.
Just under 995 miles of mixed bimbling.
1540 miles
132h
67 rides
84,209ft elevation gain
longest ride 106 miles
no turbo miles, they don't count
The only thing that doesn’t change is the movement of the front wheel.
headwind
I'm on 3133 km (1,946 mile) , in 150 hours with a measly 28041 m (91,998 ft) of elevation gain all done in 90 rides to date.
Longest ride this year so far is 153km / 3600m at Ten Under the Ben, so all off-road on my MTB, hopefully that'll be eclipsed (possibly by twice the amount if it goes well) 1st week in June when I'm at the Euro 24hr champs
2,428 km. Happily all outside, but less happily mostly road (2,268 km).
At this point last year I'd done 5,639 km, but constant illness for the first few months of this year, and a toddler and pregnant wife to look after, means I'm way down on stats and fitness.
How are people measuring ascent accurately?
My Garmin edge says I did 711m one day last week whereas Google maps says the same route is only 173m 🤔 I've even logged a fair few metres of ascent on endomondo whilst canoeing down the river Wye 😀
2250km, 90hrs, 12,610m elevation, 68 rides. All outdoor, 80% road.
No idea compared to last year on kms, rides etc, most important stat for me is 3 races so far this year vs none last year
Distance 1636 miles

Only ride MTB.
Slow start - picking up now.

I don't use any of them app thingys, so I've worked out an average week/month scenario and I'm around 2000miles I reckon. None of it indoors cos that would wear out my carpet. (And I'd crash into the telly)

A fair chunk of that was on Zwift until mid April, using ~85% difficulty on my Direto. But since the thaw in the south, all been outdoors.
Zwift doesn't count! If you don't move you haven't gone anywhere therefore you can't include virtual KMs
Yes I've peddled a bike but I certainly didn't climb anything or go anywhere.. I wish you could filter the Zwift miles out of Strava...
Hmmmm
However without Zwift miles I've probably done fewer than a 700km outdoor this year 🙁
How are people measuring ascent accurately?
I'm beginning to wonder if anyone does! I started a thread recently, apparently barometric measurement can be prone to inaccuracies, and I KNOW my GPS (Edge 25) is especially prone, although I have GLONAS switched off.
Even plotting routes can be hugely inaccurate, I plotted a route on Mallorca with lots of sidehilling and cutting through contours at acute angles. Strava calculated almost 3000m of ascent, but just tallying the biggest and most obvious climbs only came to 1800m. Likewise I've plotted the hilliest route I possible can in some local hills (The Ochils) which is a succession of 7 or 8 climbs, none of them higher than 350m max and probably only 200m maximum ascent per hill. Strava reckons I'm doing 2500m total...
Edit: I used to think Zwift miles should count, just because I could never bring myself to do them, therefore they must take commitment!
But they should at least be corrected for:
- lack of faff
- reduced pleading with wife for riding time
- extra childcare duties upon return as penance for getting out
- weather
- headwind
- road surface
- cleaning bike
- cleaning self
- arsehole drivers
etc. I'd say a 10% reduction for each of the above 😀
Zwift is to riding like fapping is to shagging.
