How long to varnish/lacquer an interior door.
Finished (lacquer) vs unfinished is 40 quid. Likely I’ll be paying someone to do the varnishing of them. If I have 10 doors is it likely to be more cost effective to buy them finished or unfinished.
The edges will need finishing if any need trimming which I assume is a high likelihood.
depends on a)how much you recon your time is worth and b)how soon your partner wants them finished and c)if you have a space inside to dry them (garage drying time for me is about 40hrs currently)
#edit, if your getting someone else to paint them, i would buy painted, so long as you dont need to do too much alterations.
Not so much about the time to paint it at this time of year but the time it takes to dry. I try never to get involved with decorating over the winter months.
Also if varnishing a new door you'll need to account for the grain lifting on the first coat - so will need sanding and varnishing again to make it look decent.
Option b) has most weight. Pre finished it is!
