I waited 5 hours for recovery by the RAC today. Well a local recovery firm subcontracted by the RAC.
Would you have gone to the pub?
Depends on the circumstances I think.
A few years since we broke down on the M1 in February with a 9 month old baby, and were huddled down the embankment from the motor in the sleet.
The highway police arrived in about 15 minutes and whisked my Mrs and the baby to the nearest services. The recovery van for the car turned up maybe 30 minutes after that.
The geezer driving the recovery wagon asked what was wrong with my little girl. I asked what he meant, and he said the dispatchers had told them she was ill - I assume laying it on thick to get someone out to us asap!
As a bloke on my own, I've probably waited for five hours or so too. That was in the winter again, my was it cold after the first couple of hours.
As this was summer suddenly I don't feel so bad.
If only you'd asked "What length duration is too much to endure while waiting for the RAC" I would have been saved from typing this.
Once, my Saab broke down on a roundabout (Ignition rail died) and I called the RAC, they said I didn’t have membership and I angrily told them I did and made them come out, arrived in 45 mins - not bad considering I’d recently done one of those bank change-overs and my DD to the RAC hadn’t gone with it, so I wasn’t actually a member.
Too much excitement for me.
I'd draw the line at 15 days quarantine before they arrived. 😆
