It's 6am, I can't sleep, and I need to trim an unruly hedge.
What's the earliest I can do it without being a dick to my neighbour?

....and its more an overgrown fence really. Back fence has ivy and other bushes against it, and they've grown over it and spilling out into the street the other side.

I was thinking 9ish. It's just annoying I could have it done, get showered and be ready to do naff all for the rest of the day by 8am if I was a bit more inconsiderate.

Here in Austria 7am Monday to Saturday is ok, but if you make any noise with electric/ petrol gardening tools on Sundays or bank holidays you risk getting a nice letter from the police!
Quarter past is apparantly fine round here to have Crowded House on really loud in the garden.
I don't think any time is really appropriate for crowded house.
As early as you like with hedge shears, 9am for anything noisier
