What's the easiest way to tell the direction a gpx file? When I load a gpx file into OS Maps app it just shows the route, if it's a loop it's not obvious if it was plotted clockwise or anti clockwise, you can follow it either way, but I'd like to know the original direction. I've tried to find an app (android) that would give me mile markers or something similar but not found one so far.
You can often tell from the elevation plot.
I've had this problem with some apps not showing direction. Viewranger app does still show direction and elevation profile.
Load it into Strava if you have it and then scoot along the elevation graph as suggested above?
If you login to the website ( https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk) and load the route/GPX from there it will number the waypoints and might offer a fly-through.
The app I use doesn't do this, but uploading to Plottaroute allows what you want. It's free, all web based, and does require an account or that you to save the route for others
On a desktop system, I think that Garmin Basecamp puts direction arrows on the plot (when the track is selected).
Put mile markers on if you can.
Can’t you just open it as a text file using Notepad then look at the northings and eastings? Their progression should tell you.
