I've ripped a few movies from DVD for a flight to my PC, just wondering now how I get to watch them on an Ipad....preferable from a USB stick

Download AV Player from the App Store, and copy the files over the WAN to your iPad from your PC
Similar to AV Player I use VLC which shows as an App in iTunes through which you just add avi or whatever kind of files you like. You can do it wirelessly or wired to PCI/Mac
Neither method allows for a USB stick though so your reliant on the iPads memory.
You don't. No USB port. Transfer the files on to it some other way

Nope.
Buy a cheap android tablet - less of an issue if you lose it or break it on holiday as well
