Adopt a cat of your own - it'll keep cats out of your garden and lower your blood pressure.

Find the owner and punch them in the face until they take responsibility for their vermin pet, it'll keep cats out of your garden and lower your blood pressure.

a cat of your own

Someone ought to let our cat in on this. She's done nothing about the feral tom that sprays our porch on an almost daily basis.

Supersoaker filled with water and a drop of orange oil. Cats hate both water and the smell of oranges, and humans love water pistols.

Lazy cat, I blame the owner for not training her, so...

Not sure if it's an old wives tale but orange peel placed here and there is supposed to work.

Apparently they don't like the smell of orange zest.

You'll need to replace it when it dries out.

Google plants to deter cats will also help

And under British law cats are the only pets that are allowed to cause any damage, harm or shit spreading on your land without any way for you to do anything to either the cat or the owner.

Dog bites you and they shoot the dog
Cat bites you and poor tiddles gets extra cream and you are reprimanded for provoking it.

Horse shits on your door step and the owner gets told off/fined
Cat shits on your doorstep and you are told to buy a cat yourself

Llama tramples and eats your flower you can serve it at the BBQ
Cat tramples your flowers and it is your fault for planting the wrong flowers

Take ANY direct action against the cat or the owner and it is animal cruelty or assault.

Could you provide a scenario where "ANY direct action" which is considered "animal cruelty or assault" doesn't apply to other pets or their owners?

Horse shits on your door step and the owner gets told off/fined

[Citation required] Horse shit is benign. People buy it, even.

Would you mind popping round to clear the cat shit off the lawn so it's safe for the kids to play there? Thanks.

Nerf gun (personal fav is the 50 cal style sniper rifle)even if you don't hit them the darts make a high pitch whistle so scares the s##t out of them and if you do hit them they are rubber tipped foam so don't do any lasting damage a few well placed shots and they soon get the message 😈

I have a sonic device too and at first it didn't seem to work - turns out that older cats take longer to be deterred than younger cats. I changed the settings and it worked great. kept it in the garden for a week then removed it and cats didn't return for a month. when they did come back i just turned the device on again and the cats were gone. (cannot have device on all the time as my kids say it sounds like nails being scratched down a blackboard). Get a cat. Will defend the territory and crap in the neighbours gardens.

Tidy creatures. Unlike dogs they don't just piss and shit wherever they're standing and just leave it. They don't like to mess up their territory so go elsewhere and even when they do they'll dig a hole for it if they can. Unless they hate the neighbour 😀

The get a cat thing doesn't work.

We have a 'house cat' British Blue that won't venture past the front or back garden, we recently moved house and discovered next doors cats use our front garden to take a shat. Now our cat refuses to use her litter tray and will only use our front garden so we are in the middle of some kind of feline shat off.

It was annoying to say the least at first, but if I'm honest I'm now pretty impressed with both the size and smell something so small can make.

Well our neighbours cats quite clearly don't like me then.

With my own eyes I have witnessed them pause mid stride to surface lay their turds on our lawn. Filthy animals.

I'm keeping them out of the flower beds with a combination of barbed wire interspersed with mounds of red hot chilli powder which seems to be working.

Ps. My standard answer for these types of question is '50 grams of bb shot'.

We had a serious problem and nothing seemed to work. Until bought these heat sensitive ultrasound noise deterrents. I was dubious they'd work but within three days all cats disappeared and have now stopped shitting and loitering in our garden. Buy them - they work.

Fill clear Plastic bottles with water and leave around garden, for some reason it scares cats and report back after a week.

I can offer a solution that has genuinely worked for me.
Absolutely years ago there was an article on GMT about this very subject. Aemonn Holmes calmly mentioned that his method was to just pi55 in the garden !!
(Apparently, cats rather begrudgingly acknowledge that humans are perhaps that little bit higher up the social tree than they are, and just go and and crap elsewhere when they stumble across a human toilet)
This really has worked in my garden for over 10 years.
(BTW, my back garden is NOT overlooked by any of the neighbours, so I can just get on with it - if you are not so fortunate, it may be wise to "fill a suitable container" in the house, and then just sprinkle it around)
Good luck !

Orange peel doesn't work on our local felines, bastards!

Our only rational solution is to move house. Drastic I know, but I really hate car shit in the garden 🙂

1x 12v battery,
2x car window motors and regulators,
2x garden hose with actuated sprayer head,
2x cheap motion sensors.
6x zip tie.

= every time the furry ****er comes over the fence, it gets a soaking. It hasn't tried for months.

So how do you account for the piles of reeking cat shit all over my back lawn, and all over the gravel drive out front, right by the side of my car, and also in a concrete flower planter out front?
And it's not one cat, there are three or four, all belonging to different people.
Nerf guns just have the little bastards chasing the darts around. 🙄

Ah right cheers for that I'll give that one a go. The one I purchased didn't have settings.

BB gun - hurts but doesn't damage. Cats have good memories

Best cat deterrent is a Jack Russell (this is Toby but other names are available) who hides in the shed until the local stupid cats decide to try their luck venturing into the garden then he unleashes his righteous anger n' fury onto them which at the last confrontation left him with a mouthful of partial cat tail which he carried round the garden with a chuffed as **** look on his face, there's quite a few local cats who bear a passing resemblance to a tailess Manx cat but it's fair game, if they stayed out of his garden then they wouldn't get mauled.

I really would not shoot a cat with a bb gun. I had one and it was fairly powerful and would certainly penetrate the skin and cause significant damage and suffering.

A powerful water pistol loaded with water laced with peppermint flavouring has been successful for me.
Dumping a bucket full of icy water over a sleeping cat also was effective.

I use coffee grounds with some success as I'm not allowed to chop the little ****er in half.

We had rats in our garden last year and a man from the council came and killed them all to death.

Not always clearly but frequently cats get the wrap for the work of foxes.

Our one is now old and prefers her litter tray than bothering to venture outside. Looking at the volume she now generates I've haven't a clue where it all whet before. But it wasn't our garden 😳 😈

We have same problem. I found a passive aggresive post on social media to alert the owners followed by a orange/coffee grinds combination worked...

The cat issue has been sorted by years of educating. Next door do seem to get a new cat regularly and a few tennis balls thrown at them plus the fact our garden is really hard to get out of has made our beds less appealing.
We now have very little exposed dirt.
Foxes however are now the problem. Rat traps in their favourite places are a good deterrent.

How do you think that might have made a scrap of difference? Once the person has elected to 'host' (you don't own a cat, if anything it owns you) a cat, the damage is done. They will have zero ability to influence it's bowel habits.

Find somebody with a dog that chases cats.
Borrow dog every so often for the weekend.
Dog has fun chasing cats out of garden, dog owners get a dog free weekend, you get to play with a dog. Everybody is a winner (except maybe the cat).
