Hoping someone can guide me a little here.
I'm looking at 'sheds' for motorbike and 4 bikes, 1 29er, 1 road, 1 26 and 1 20 kids.
I'm thinking for example of the motorbike on the RHS with the shed lengthways in the garden, then the toolbox/chest behind the motorbike.
Then on the LHS, the 4 bike in a 2x3 formation with 2 of them on the left wall standing up supported by front wheel, with 2 on the back wall, again standing up.
Now, none of these are set in stone as far as plans go, if you have better, please suggest it.
bike length is 2055mm and the toolchest is 450mm. So I'm thinking to give some leeway at the end that's coming in at 8'2", So I'd ideally want a 10' shed... (possibly even 12' so I can put on paddock stand)
width of bike is apparently 750mm. But I don't know how much I'd need for the pushbikes. As well as their actual size (700mm+ seat etc) I'd be thnking we'd need 2100mm for the width, to give me ability to move them about etc ? Which is just under 7'. So maybe 8' would work OK ?
Any thoughts and suggestions please.
This is a 12x8 Looks like it would work for me ?
My experience of motorbikes and sheds is that it's very hard to get the bike out again once all the other crap goes in. That and 'other people' will drop stuff on the bike.
I'd get two smaller sheds. One for the bike with a standing death threat over the rest of the family to stay out and the other for the bicycles and general crap.
Always go bigger than you think. I would say 16x8 or 16x10 if you want to work on them in there. Are you going to fit a cage for the bikes?
You could partition the shed and make a separate door into the compartment for the motorbike to go in easily.
I have a 12x8 housing 4 bikes (2 hanging, 2 below), 1 motorbike, 1 large work bench and a whole load of other assorted shit.
Works OK but I need to move stuff out to do more than minor repair on anything
Bikes are at one end, work bench the other, with the motorbike diagonal.
Just measured my garage, it's a bit under 8x12, and I've got 5 bikes + motorbike in there. There's no way you can do any work (apart from pumping up the tyres) on the bikes without moving the motorbike out first. Two of the bikes are up on a rack at head height, but even so it's still lacking space. Should also mention there's a workbench, shelving and what-have-you there too - if you had a completely bare space it would be tight but perhaps doable.
