I've had my Panasonic LCD tv for a couple of years and have always thought that the sound was no where near that of my old Sony Wega CRT. Obviously the slim case of the LCD cannot accommodate the physical size of a decent set of speakers so - great picture, thin sound.

I recently heard about sound bars and after a bit of t'internet research, plumped for a Yamaha YA101 from Richer Sounds. What a fantastic piece of kit for less than £200. It's completely transformed my movie watching experience. Proper room-filling, bassy sound. I'm well chuffed with it.

Can you attach them to any telly? I'd like to try one on my non-LCD/panel tv. Looking at the back it has ALOT of connections available.

I have a Yamaha YST450 with Subwoofer, and while not as good as a proper surround sound setup still sound pretty good. I have to have mine in the corner of the room which doesn't help with bouncing the sound around mind.

They sure are! Bought an LG sound bar with wireless SW couple of weeks back, hifi seperates also now redundant as music now blutooths directly from iPad/phone to soundbar, sound quality to my ears perfecto (for the price)....Marvelous 😀

Edit - hora digital optical out of tele and into SB on mine.

I looked at these a couple of years ago - ended up buying a home theatre system off ebay for £35 which included a DVD player which was also handy.

I have a Samsung BD8200, decent sound and wireless sub-woofer is convenient but the blu-ray player is a PITA. It plays a disc about 1 in 10 attempts. Tempted to replace the whole thing with the newer E8200 but it's a lot of money if that turns out flaky to 🙁

I looked at them to, and ended up with an old style Pioneer surround sound set up for £20!
