Jumped from £380 to £570 give or take. Never claimed. ‘Why the massive jump?’ - ‘claims for floods due to bad weather’. Not sure if they’re expecting me to roll over and cough but I’ll def be seeking alternative quotes - arse. Anyone else’s jumped massively recently?
Yes , but not that much, £90. It’s still the best quote for what we need to cover.
£30 rise for me....
Same as any insurance, or any financial product, always shop around on renewal/expiry.
They rely on customer lethargy to make a cheeky few quid. A cheeky few quid x 100k customers = huge profit, and bonuses for the management and shareholders.
If it’s a few quid I’ll let it go as I CBA but half again is taking the piss
Multicar policy just jumped from £600 to £740 😕 cheapest alternative I can find is £700
It always jumps up to take advantage of lazy/stupid folk who don't know about price comparison website or who can't be arsed to shop around.
Empty house policy (building only/probate) I was getting lots of quotes around the £900 mark... a few phone calls and Flux came back with a quote around £550.
Prices have gone up, no question about that, but a lot of insurers will take advantage on renewals for existing customers.
My 40mb broadband got hiked to £26.30 per month mid-contract, same ISP is charging new customers £26.99 for 145mb.
I'm stuck in contract for another 3 months unless I want to pay a circa £100 cancellation fee... everyones at it.
I’m neither lazy or stupid but I also resent wasting my time constantly having to ‘shop around’ for basic services.
I absolutely hate this business model that smart arse marketeers have thrust on us for literally everything. Two cars, house insurance, broadband, electricity, gas, mobile, travel insurance etc etc
Why can’t we just buy something and not worry about it till something material changes - why does EVERYTHING have to be this stupid game where companies are constantly trying to catch you out. It’s bollocks.
Totally agree... Tesco club card for example... That one has caught me out as the the shelf pricing is becoming so obfuscated, my shopping bill came to about £20 more than advertised.
A bit of fast talking to the lady in the queue behind me, she gets some free points on her club card, I paid a fairer price. Cashier seemed to appreciate my plight and turned a blind eye!
It was either that, or I walked out of the shop leaving £80 quids worth of shopping on the conveyor.
Been with LV a good few years with only reasonable rises year on year but this year my buildings and contents renewal price was 79% higher...no claims and no changes 🤯

Time to get on the comparison sites then, and also look up insurers who dont use those sites, I think Direct line and adrian flux are two that dont use them, theres likely others.
Unfortunatley it's back to the old days of getting multiple quotes from multiple sources if you want the best deal.
Our renewal was £50 cheaper this year for the same cover. Didn't have to shop around or complain to them, just let it renew.

Honestly, we don't have it that bad in the UK. In the USA every single transaction is fraught with this, it's really shocking.
The same is happening in Australia. Over 20% hike in our car insurance this year …. Tried shopping around and there was nothing better. House insurance is ****ed.

A colleague watched someone just run out of the supermarket with a full trolley today.

Same experience with Aviva, customer for over a decade, some years it's a little cheaper other years a little more expensive. This year they doubled it, no changes and no claims, I'm no longer a customer.
My car insurance with Direct Line went up a lot so just moved to LV for both cars.
Surprised one was RAC cover going up from £11 to £20 so I had to phone them up and play the I'm leaving game to get it down to £10
House insurance is a known loser for me in a thatched cottage and it costs £1500 a year with NFU but I can hardly go to comparison websites can I.
Admiral raised mine from £450 to £699 to £1009 in the last 3 years.
Unfortunately I had subsidence approx 7 years ago due so have no option but to stay, but it really does feel like they have me over a barrel.
