Hi all,
Firstly I will mention that I am looking to shortly sell the house so I can't really do anything outrageous that may appear distasteful to some.
Here are a few areas of the house that are really bugging me with what to do.

The kitchen floor tiles, and white walls:

Already tiled in a dark colour which I quite like the look of. These are BADLY laid so I want to pull them up and lay new ones. Dark again? Gloss? Slate? Completely different?
The walls with the exception of the tiles are pretty boring too, matte white. WHile clean looking; very boring. Opinions here?

The Stairwell:

Magnolia walls, cream carpet, magnolia wall at the top hardly make a 'wow' impression when you walk through the door. I live in a coach house above garages so it's straight in the front door to be greeted with that. So what can I do here? Neutral colours here? Tile the ground floor area?

Those Red blinds:

I quite liked them up until the other day the mrs said her first impression was 'ieww, what are they about?' As you can see I've tried to bring the colour into the room with red breakfast stools and accessories like mats and coasters. Should these be replaced with something a bit more neutral to sell?
Please excuse the paperwork, one of them mad days of 'filing' all the old bits over a couple of years :p
Any opinions will be greatly appreciated; Photoshops if you're REALLY bored 🙂
I'd leave it, TBH. Looks like every other 'new' house I've ever seen, can but assume estate agents build them like that for a reason. Anything other than neutral and you're going to provoke a reaction; whether or not that's positive is a gamble.
Looks grand to me. Though all the walls being bare might make it seem duller than necessary. Handful of big canvas prints and keep it spotless for viewings and it should go easy enough at the right price.
Do men have opinions on this stuff?
If there's no natural light in the hallway keep it light. Doubt changing the floor near the door would make much difference.
If you're selling it leave it as it is but change the blinds. Keep everything neutral. Boring yes, but it won't offend anyone and its easy to add colour or paint over.

I disagree. Magnolia offends me enormously. Most of our house was Magnolia when we moved in. I still have to shut my eyes when I walk up the stairs because the torment is too much. I can't express enough how much I hate it.
However - I'd also leave it. The new owners can paint over it themselves...
Just repaint it to a different neutral shade. Farrow and Ball "Pointing" is slightly paler but infinitely easier on the eye. Quite often it's stored in the Dulux mixing machine too at about 1/3 of the original price.
I think the phrase is "magnolia rage" as it does your head in after a bit.
Stick loads of big mirrors everywhere. Functional and make light bounce around and make small areas feel larger.
This advice was free. My next post, i charge for.
