just wondering if anyone has any good recommendations for a half decent hotel or B&B in the Borders for a family of 5? Only looking for 2 or 3 nights.

Anywhere! Just want to get away from Glasgow for a few days, not too bothered about MTBing, just somewhere ideally with no phone signal!

A good central location would be Melrose - nice wee town with lots to see and do nearby.
Peebles would be good for biking and closest to Glasgow.
Tibbie Shiels at St Marys Loch is remote with no phone signal! Lovely setting.
Lots of good B&bs - just choose a town and take it from there.
