What is it with modern taps? Why do they make it so difficult, if not impossible, to see which is hot and which is cold? Why is cold never on the same side?
And why are they getting so complicated? One toilet I went in in a pub even had instructions on the wall on how to use the taps.

Well that's answered the question to who these are for.

If it's done properly, hot should always be on the left.

In my kitchen, hot is on the left, but on the wash basin it's on the right, and on the bath it's on the left - and I had to go and check that!

Why are sink overflows too small to do the job they're intended for?
