Dug out my old trainsets to show my three year old nephew, built an oval track but none of the trains are moving on it (I have three). The wires all look fine. It's been about 12 or 14 years since they were used, I'm hoping there's no big issues with it, but how do I check / resolve the problem? Been kept in a cardbox box indoors all that time, in a cupboard.
Photos of other HORNBY trainsets welcome 🙂 . Could do with inspiration at the moment.
Cheers!!
Nice try pal, but the genie's out of the box, this'll never overtake the other thread!

OP earlier today...

Damm wrong thread, glad I deleted those pics
It's been funny but can we get over this now please.
Stick a multimeter on the track and check it's getting the current.
Turn the wheels by hand and check everything is free to turn.
Try cleaning the track and wheels.
It's a simple electric circuit, not that much to go wrong.
I recently went through this, only it was just some of my locomotives. Opened them up and cleaned the carbon brushes on the motors, and coaxed them into life by applying a current directly to the pick-ups on the loco itself.
There's a good James May dismantler episode on youtube on the Hornby Flying Scotsman.
Defo clean the tracks, that will probably be the problem.
