Anyone know anything about these space saving cabinets for sewing machines?

It looks like the ideal thing to help my wife do some sewing again. We're short on space but could probably fit one of these in. Her sewing machine lives in the wardrobe and rarely gets out these days. Mainly due to time overall plus setting it up, clearing the dining table etc.

The only issue is they are over £600 new! I've seen a few for sale second hand but I'm surprised that nowhere seems to recondition or resell them. Perhaps the market is too small. Also there aren't really any similar products available of the same quality, unless anyone knows otherwise?

Jesus that is hideous. There is a wealth of old singer, Janine etc sewing cabinets on eBay and Etsy that are far nicer than that. Just get one of them and wap the other machine in. You might even get another sewing machine out of it.

We have a 1960s singer cabinet - not with as much storage as that one... But solid beech and fits in well in the living  room, looks like a regular console table.... Id definitely go 2nd hand if you can.

If you're short on space I can't see that getting a cabinet for some thing that isn't used much (ATM) is going to help.
Increase the current usage and then maybe it becomes more viable.

Oh yeah, no doubt! Looks slightly better in darker colours. It can be wheeled about, so should be easy to tuck away when not in use.

@sharkbait also more short on time. My thinking is workflow and accessibility is key (and this is just one possible solution). Currently the sewing machine is in a bag in the wardrobe. The only place it can be used is the dining table (in a lounge diner) which needs to be cleared of kids stuff and more importantly thoroughly cleaned before use (it is cleaned after every meal anyway but still find the odd pocket of pasta sauce etc.). The dining table puts the sewing machine at the wrong height too. This unit could potentially fit in our bedroom instead.

Yep fair enough.
TBH I'd just get a table to put the machine on [in your bedroom] - maybe one that can be folded down or "made smaller".

My ex's mum has one of those tables as she is/was a keen quilter. The slidey up'n'doon thing for the sewing machine is quite clever and handy but the build quality of the rest of it is not great for the money TBH. Kinda average quality flatpack really...
If you could find a second-hand one at a substantial discount then it'd maybe be right enough.

Yeah, that's the other option to consider. A folding table could live under the bed. Also it's easier to move to another room. The downside is it doesn't store the machine and other bits.

Something like this.

Added bonus of one flap up is good for quick and small stuff but with more effort you have a platform for large pieces.

True, but the machine is quite small so can be kept somewhere else - like in the wardrobe!

It's got wheels but I'm not sure I would move it.  Those 'shelves' are super shallow and everything would fall off in seconds if I tried to move it 🙂

To be fair, older version of that cabinet look much better. Better storage compartments and have a measuring tape sunk into the top.

We've got one - bear in mind what machine you've got as MrsF had to order a larger one to use with her computerised sewing/embroidery machine. Not so sure it saves space, as Mrsf usually has it open, and her's has a folding top that doubles the table size. That said, she's more sewing machines than I have bikes.
