Honey, lemon and hot water.
Eat plenty of chili for prevention.
A small dose of MTFU never hurt anyone. 😉

When Mrs_Ache as pregnant and got a cold, Lemsip is a no go due to ingredients, I made a Eucalyptus Honey and Lemon drink and it did her the world of good. As your not pregnant I would suggest doing the same but putting some Scotch in it in the evening. At the very least it will help you sleep.

Orange juice in the morning, hot toddy at night, curry in between. The medicinal diet of champions.

If you (and your nearest and dearest) can handle it, eat raw garlic cloves.
If it's a bit too unpleasant, chop it up and chuck it in something like a chicken soup, but towards the end of heating as the rawer the better.

Earlier this year I remember being convinced that I had been cured by a combination on pickled chilis and Stainburn Black.
